Are any GOP candidates 'Dan Maes Republicans'?

  • by: Donald Johnson

I’ve spent the last few hours “musing” about whether any GOP candidates dare endorse Dan Maes and label themselves as “Dan Maes Republicans.”

Only GOP has beens, losers and a few Maes groupies are endorsing  him so far as I know.

If Dan Maes is an incompetent nut, are Dan Maes Republicans incompetent “nuts”?

      1. .

about putting in time by volunteering, not actual monetary dues.  IIRC, that was a jibe at Bennet, who kinda descended into the Dem Party from on high.

        .

    1. I believe he is a member of Tanc’s new party.  A bit too conservative for Twitty’s taste, perhaps.  But a welcome member of our little community here.

Poor Colorado Republicans, it makes the heart warm with empathy and other do-gooder thoughts. They just can’t catch a break, then along comes Dan.  It’s like Christmas in August…

And thank you, BJ, for sticking around.  Your capacity for befuddled reasoning is nearly boundless, a characteristic sure to provoke much guilty enjoyment in these parts.  Thank you too for contributing.

  1. His mom is not available.

    His daughter is really young.

    His wife…has other priorities.

So – a Colorado R with nothing to lose ….perhaps because they have no political aspiration or perhaps because even if they do it, they don’t get …”blamed.” And even could be seen as the “true” or more conventional R solidifying the ticket. Someone with proven ability to talk to true conervative values and R political talking points and messaging (hackery).

    Dan Caplis.

  2. for tIming?

Does he have to pick someone?

Dan Caplis – well known Denver celeBrity with a celebrity wife who has talked about running for something some day.

He’s perfect and he’s got nothing to lose.

He could be the voice of reason to balance the R ticket.

    1. Have you listened to Caplis and Silverman recently? And Caplis got so steamed about the primary results that he had to take a week off to recover.

      1. Objectively, Maes has very little shot at winning–it would take something bigger than the McInnis plagiarism scandal to bring down Hickenlooper.

Accordingly, the GOP’s goal should be to concentrate on the Senate and CD4 races, the AG/Treasurer races, and try to pick up as many legislative seats as possible.  Which means the Lt. Gov. pick for Maes is largely irrelevant–the biggest concern should be not using one of their better candidates in an effort to shore up what is almost certainly a doomed candidacy.  So pick someone who doesn’t have a future anyway, and let them go down swinging.

      2. Seriously- get used to the idea of 2010 being a salvage year at the top o’ the ticket.  The goal here is do no more harm and get under cover.

Work downticket and look to 2012.

Stability and intelligence should be the goal.

And some anger is probably warranted and a good thing.  Makes the ticket more sincere and empathetic- shared mind state with the base.
