Good diary, John. JBS has always tried to have it both ways- promoting itself as a patriotic, American “farmer-owned”  company. At the same time, it employs and exploits immigrants and refugees all over the world. 

JBS was infamously a site for one of Ken Buck’s big immigrant raids in 2006, and still welcomes ICE onto the site to round up and deport its workers.  JBS itself has never faced consequences for hiring undocumented workers. It’s known for wage theft and firing injured workers. Also E. coli contaminated meats, and lying about water and fat content.

And now, JBS is  cashing in on the farmer bailouts from Trump’s stupid trade war,  exporting profits  to Brazilian white collar criminals instead of struggling American farmers.

If you want to put a little economic pressure on JBS, its  brands include Swift, Butterball, Pilgrim’s Pride, Armor, Smithfield. But be sure and write to the publicity flacks to let them know why you’re boycotting.
