Maes Dodges Half A Bullet

(What does Maes need campaign funds for, anyway? – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Dan Maes has reached a settlement with the person who filed a campaign finance complaint against him.

According to an article by Charles Ashby in today’s Daily Sentinel,

Grand Junction attorney Erik Groves said he and his client, Christopher Klitzke, have agreed to drop the case if Maes agreed to pay a lesser fine.

So instead of the $27,000 fine Maes initially had agreed to pay in his response to Klitzke’s complaint, the two sides have agreed to a $17,500 fine, Groves said.

That brings Maes’ fine down to less than the $23,339.64 cash on hand that he reported July 6.

        1. Selling U.S. Senatorial access is maybe more of a story then Maes getting partially off the hook. I’d be interested in your thoughts though.

  1. the same guy who was offering donations for votes to Balmer?

I’m not saying one has anything to do with the other.  I’m just saying it reeks of establishment candidate trying to take out the little guy if he is since he’d be an insider.

I’m not saying Maes shouldn’t be fined because his use of campaign donations look really fishy to me.  But it does appear calculated.

    1. As I remember it the Balmer issue was some internal GOP blood letting.

The press wouldn’t do their job and investigate this Charlatan Dan Maes.  It took a good lawyer effectively doing his job to expose Dan Maes and his Tea party cohorts to the clear light of day.

          1. Mac filed a suit against me and one of my clients after an election where he lost what cause he was after that year. It didn’t get far but I still can’t bring myself to throw out the files…I might use it some day when a right a political comedy.

  2. It is good that Dan Maes and other Tea Party scam artists are exposed.  It took some really good legal work to expose this guy as our State’s newspapers gave Dan Maes a pass and never looked into these questionnable expenditures.

Dan Maes is a huckster pure and simple.

    1. to see that on his website soon.

“Dan Maes personally helps to alleviate Colorado Budget constraints”

I wonder if he can choose which department will be the beneficiary?
