US Chamber of Commerce: Jane Norton for US Senate

The US Chamber of Commerce announced their endorsement of Jane Norton this morning. They looked closely at everyone that applied for the endorsement and settled on Jane. Her track record at the Colorado Department of Health, capping non-economic damage awards and creating a “Mandate-Lite” model for small businesses, is solidly conservative.

Politico, The Hill, and the Denver Business Journal were on the call. They asked about the Chamber’s recent loss in KY. The Chamber said “you win some, you lose some. Overall, the Chamber has a good track record and we are not going to sacrifice our position” on free trade, reasonable spending, manageable deficits, and sustainable health care.

What about the polls putting Ken ahead by double digits? They say the polls are all over the place. This is an endorsement of Jane, not a rejection of Ken, and Jim DeMint has lost more than his fair share.

The Chamber wants to create 20 million jobs in 10 years. They think Jane is best placed to win the Primary and the General Election and to be an effective legislator.

Would you say that the US Chamber of Commerce is primarily motivated by:

  1. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is pro big business, Wall Street, etc. The race is all about the little guys vs. the big guys in the Republican Party. Of course lobbyists favor the former lobbyist in the race. She will hand over our taxpayer dollars to the big guys.

    1. Personally, I would much rather have the 527 spin off of the chamber, AJS, than the chamber.  Didn’t the chamber go along with Obamacare?

  2. This is a positive note for Norton, obviously.  With this, Buck’s mounting problems, etc., I don’t share the faith of Buck Shills that this race is over.

    1. In reality, they tend to represent a pretty narrow band of the largest corporations. Local small businesses etc. have little use for them and receive little to no benefit from their lobbying priorities.

That said, I think Buck’s backlash may be starting. As folks start to see just how exteme he really is, I think a good deal of republicans are going to have serious reservations electing him. And the given the vicious tone of the Norton campaign, I think they’ll be quick to exploit these negatives.

The Buck shills on here were quick to downplay his ethics scandal, but it is serious, and it’s going to be a bad issue for him. People are tired of swarmy politician types, and a serious ethical scandal like this cuts right at the heart of his credibility.

  3. Jane Norton is the pin up girl for corporate American on the take.  With Charlie Black calling the shots, what’s not to like?

How much money can we take in Charlie if we oppose financial reform? Done.

    Happy days are here again.
