Chaffee County Republicans Spread Fake News About "Secret" Motive of "Kavanaugh Accuser"

The Republican Party in Chaffee County, Colorado, spread a fake news report this week alleging that “secret revenge” is the real motivation of the woman saying she was sexually assaulted by Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The allegation, determined to be “false” by the fact-checking site Snopes, was that Brett Kavanaugh’s mother, who was a judge, ruled against the parents of Christine Blasey Ford, who says she was assaulted by Brett Kavanaugh.

Snopes reports:

Martha Kavanaugh did preside for certain parts of a 1996 foreclosure case involving Ralph and Paula Blasey, who are indeed Christine Blasey Ford’s parents. However, Kavanaugh actually ruled favorably toward the Blaseys, who ended up keeping their home. These two facts cause the logic of the conspiracy theory, such as it ever was, to collapse.

The Chaffee County Republicans, who did not immediately return a call for comment, shared the fake news in a Facebook post from Conservativedailypost.com titled, “Breaking: Kavanaugh Accuser Wants Secret Revenge.”

  1. We all know what her motive is. She is a Democrat activist and this is a chance to hurt Republicans. Nothing else matters, otherwise this would have been dealt with years ago.

    1. MAGAt.  THat's despicable.  Even for you.  Coming forward with this allegation has put her under intense scrutiny and has invited death threats to the point that she and her family were driven out of their home.  Hell, your remark alone is an example of why women don't come forward.

That said, I'm glad to see you post.  Because you show what a piece of shit you, your party and anybody who is in it is.  Cheers for free speech!

  2. It's gotta be one heck of a pretzel-bending motive.

Tell no one until a husband asks about it twenty or so years after the fact.  Bring it up in counseling sessions. Bring it up when the alleged aggressor is on a list for the Supreme Court, but before the actual nomination announcement.

Send a tip to the Washington Post, but insist on anonymity.  Send a letter to a US Representative, asking it to be passed on to Senator Feinstein — but maintain anonymity. Continue to ask for anonymity until the contents are leaked. Continue to maintain silence until approached by news outlets AND the story is distorted.

Then go public — knowing there will be challenges to the content, personal character, and the timing of the "sudden" revelation. Don't develop a media strategy, develop personal relationships with any reporters, or hire an attorney until the charge goes public.

Include in the revelation a second person, one likely to back up any denial or counter-accusation by Kavanaugh. Once public, ask for a full investigation by the FBI.

If she really had a motive to hurt Republicans, don't you think she could have found a way to be a bit more strategic and competent in activities to pursue that motive?

    1. Really.  Somebody receiving death threats has to be faking it right?

Dr. Blasey’s lawyers said that she has been the target of “vicious harassment and even death threats” since her name was made public on Sunday in an interview published in The Washington Post. Her email has been hacked, she has been impersonated online and she and her family have been forced to relocate out of their home, according to the lawyers, Ms. Banks and her partner, Debra S. Katz.

What kind of asshole would think that

We all know what her motive is. She is a Democrat activist and this is a chance to hurt Republicans. Nothing else matters, otherwise this would have been dealt with years ago.

when these kind of threats befall someone who comes forward with a rape allegation?
