Greg Brophy Goes To Washington

  •

Greg Brophy.
Greg Brophy.

As the Greeley Tribune reports, Rep.-elect Ken Buck of Colorado's Fourth Congressional District is bringing a familiar face with him to Washington:

Greg Brophy will take the lead for Buck as his chief of staff.

Brophy will finish his second term as a Colorado state senator at the end of the year.

A native Coloradan and graduate of Colorado State University, Brophy is a farmer from Wray…

As a state senator, Brophy worked to limit government, protect property rights, and promote fiscal responsibility, the release said.

He has served in the leadership of the Colorado Farm Bureau and various other farm associations.

“Greg brings with him extensive knowledge of Eastern Colorado and invaluable experience at the state Capitol, where he demonstrated his commitment to the principles and values of the people he served,” Buck said in the release. “He has demonstrated impressive political skills and possesses sound judgment, which will be critical to the work we do in Washington. I couldn’t think of a better fit for our team.”

Sen. Greg Brophy has been one of the state's more outspoken conservative legislators for many years, having once claimed that Medicaid recipients blow their money on "cigarettes and air conditioning," and famously declaring from the well of the Colorado Senate that he will not obey new gun safety laws. Brophy has never been one to shy away from national controversy in particular, jumping to the defense of talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh, telling then-law student Sandra Fluke after Limbaugh called her a "slut" on the air, "I don’t want to buy your booze, pay for your spring break or your birth control. Call your Dad for that."

And now, Brophy is packing his bags for Washington, D.C., where he will serve as chief of staff for a Congressman who told the voters to "vote for me because I don't wear high heels."

Bottom line, folks? Ken Buck and Greg Brophy in Washington might do more to prove Democratic "war on women" allegations true than any Democrat ever could, but other than that, this is a match made in heaven.
