Peter Blake of the Rocky Mountain News had a small note about Republican staff movements over the weekend:
Political moves: Dustin Olson, political director of the state Republican Party, has resigned effective next week to go to work for 5th Congressional District candidate Jeff Crank. His replacement has not yet been named.
Meanwhile, according to Hans Gullickson, the state party’s executive director, Sandy Drago has been appointed coordinator for the state assembly May 20 in Colorado Springs’ World Arena. She earlier worked for former Senate President John Andrews.
That’s the official story, but we hear that Olson is moving on because the Republican National Committee wants to bring in a more seasoned political director. The RNC is worried that the State GOP is not prepared to hold off potential Democratic advances in 2006, in part because of a bland GOTV plan, so they are sending in their own reinforcements.
