FOX 31's Eli Stokols:
District Attorney Mitch Morrisey has filed formal charges against Franklin Sain, who sent a series of harrasing emails and voicemails to the sponsor of two gun control proposals, FOX31 Denver has confirmed.
Sain, 42, faces one charge of harassment and one charge of attempting to influence a public official, which is a felony.
A felony conviction for Franklin Sain would have the ironic effect of stripping him of the gun rights he was willing to defend, allegedly, by telling Rep. Rhonda Fields that he is "coming for you" and expressing hope that she gets "Gifforded," in between repeated disparaging references to Rep. Fields' ethnicity and gender and the guns he owns–promising, if Rep. Fields' bills pass, that "many will be killed." Sain's attorney is claiming "free speech," but the conduct alleged here goes beyond any reasonable interpretation of that freedom.
And if he loses his guns, we won't weep.
