Trump Administration Releases Sloppy List of Sanctuary...Things

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

Perhaps DOGE fired all of the copy editors in the federal government.

On Thursday, the Department of Health and Human Services under Robert F. Kennedy Jr. released a “MAHA Health Report” that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called “one of the most transformative health reports that has ever been released by the federal government.” Reporters quickly realized that “The MAHA Report: Making Our Children Healthy Again” was littered with errors and citations for made-up scientific studies that likely came as a result of relying on AI to produce much of the content.

On Friday, the Department of Homeland Security released a list of “Sanctuary Jurisdictions Defying Federal Law” that was equally problematic. The list, created as a requirement of Executive Order 14287: Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens, includes this important note:

It is sound advice to caution that “no one should act on this information without conducting their own evaluation of the information,” since the list is laughably inaccurate. For Colorado, the list includes 41 of the state’s 64 counties, including Kiowa County — home to all of about 1,400 people in total. The list also includes this grouping of Colorado “cities”:

You might have caught that the City of Aurora is somehow not on the list, despite President Trump singling out Colorado’s third-largest city during a 2024 campaign stop at the Gaylord Hotel. Trump continued to single out Aurora during his 2024 campaign after being informed that Venezuelan gangs had killed everyone in town.

We’d also guess that leaders of Lafayette, Northglenn, and Dillon, respectively, are relieved to not be included on the list. Instead, places such as “Lafeyette,” “Northglen,” and “Dillion” are being targeted as top sanctuary offenders.

Douglas County was not included on the DHS list, which appears to be largely just throwing names of places run by Democrats at the wall and seeing what sticks. But Douglas County in Kansas was included…inaccurately:

Um, you got that one backward, Chief.

We’d imagine plenty of other errors will soon be uncovered on this totally very important list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” in the United States.

Make America Great Again!!! Or, you know, whatever.
