Given their phonetically indistinguishable names, some confusion as we predicted was inevitable between the newly-elected Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and relatively newly-elected Democratic Mayor of Denver Mike Johnston.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston wants you to know that under the hood, these two similarly-named public officials couldn’t be more different on the issues that matter:

Just to be clear, I’m Mike Johnston with a “T”

I am neither running for speaker, trying to overturn a lawful election, nor roll back abortion rights and LGBTQ protections.

The “T” makes a big difference.

Ken Buck may have cashed out his moral standing, but the difference between Johnson and Johnston is more than just a load-bearing T. Let’s all remember to at least pronounce it now.
