John Salazar Needs Global Warming 101 Class

by: Ron-Westminster

Thu Jun 25, 2009 at 14:58:05 PM MDT

Publicly John Salazar has been stating, as quoted in the Denver Post today, eh considers Global Warming "a real issue" though the DP reporting goes on to say that privately he has voiced the idea that recent rainy weather in Colorado disproves the theories behind Global Warming.

Clearly John needs to get brought up to speed if he thinks that a single seasonal swing might disprove the science that points to the Global Warming issue.  Certainly he fails to have even a rudimentary understanding of the theories and science with regards to the issue of Global Warming.

Will someone please send him a copy of 'An Inconvenient Truth' and remind him that he's a Democrat, not a Republicrat.

Insulting? Or intentionally ignorant?
There are legitimate reasons for having qualms about the current version of the climate bill. The underlying science of the influence of increasing CO2 on climate is NOT one of them.

Given the wealth of top notch climate scientists in Colorado (several of whom have won Nobel Prizes) John Salazar has no excuse for not being fully informed on the evidence for anthropogenic CO2 enhanced climate change.

His comments are insulting to the scientists who live in his district and elsewhere in the state.

His comments can be summarized as:

"I'm ignorant and I want to tell the world."

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." --ChuckieD, 1871

Here's Susan Greene's column mentioning his "skepticism"...
http://www.denverpost.com/sear...

Can't point you towards the original article, because the Post's web site is kinda on the fritz today.

Anyway, Greene writes:

Privately, he has expressed some skepticism, speculating about whether recent rains in Colorado disprove theories about climate change. That's the scientific equivalent of assuming the economy has bounced back because a coffee klatch was lucky enough to win at Powerball.

Thanks....
I found it myself, but was trying to let Ron know that he needs to include links when posting diaries like this. It's just courteous.

The missing link
I would have loved to have provided a link but I haven't figured out how to click on a hard copy of the newspaper to create a link on the web.

he has "privately voiced the idea"?
...what kind of reportage bullshit is this?  "In his heart of hearts, when the lights are dark, and no one's around, and he's not really awake, he dreams of something.  And you just might not like that something!"

I'm not as sweet as I used to be.

Rains disprove global warming?!
http://www.livescience.com/env...

Even though a warmer planet is expected to bring more precipitation, we humans may not be able to capture enough of it.

As the climate warms, more water will fall in the form of rain rather than snow, studies have shown. New modeling details how reservoirs will fill earlier than normal, and how snow will melt earlier in the year, altering the timing of runoff that water officials count on in many major reservoir systems.

Perhaps we should stop using the term
global warming, though it's accurate, in  favor of extreme climate change.  Among global warming's effects is more extreme weather of all kinds, not just a steady over all temperature increase.
