Perlmutter Raises $195,000

by: Colorado Pols

Thu Oct 11, 2007 at 12:15:03 PM MDT

Freshman Rep. Ed Perlmutter reported raising $195,174 for Q3, leaving him $438,511 cash on hand. Perlmutter is following the formula used by Rep. John Salazar in 2005 during his first year in congress, when he raised around $1 million in his first four quarters.

Perlmutter's continued strong fundraising, coupled with his blowout victory over Rick O'Donnell, should be enough to scare away serious opponents - much as Salazar scared off tough challengers prior to the 2006 race.

Cheese and rice
Cheese and rice, that's a whole lot of money.  There aren't many (sane) Republicans I can think of who would want to face Ed in 2008, against Ed's $$$, and in a year that R's are generally seen in a bad light.  It's good to be the incumbent.

Compare
I pointed out yesterday at SquareState that at this point in the last cycle he had $259,251 cash on hand, and was looking at an expensive primary.

Come on Beauprez, you know you want the old job back. Bring it on.

hmmm
That seems low but I think his seat is pretty safe this time around

I agree
not even half a million cash on hand at the end Q3 really isn't that impressive.  I don't think he's on track to hit a million this year, but he's not being targeted by the repubs so he probably doesn't need that much.
