Schaffer Hires General Consultant for Senate Run

(This story broke late last night, so we promoted it to the top in case you missed it. - promoted by Colorado Pols)

Republican Bob Schaffer has retained Shari Williams as the General Consultant for his upcoming U.S. Senate run. Williams has a long history overseeing statewide Republican campaigns and was heavily involved in Bob Beauprez's run for governor in 2006.

We first reported back in January that Schaffer would run for the U.S. Senate in 2008. With Williams on board, an official announcement may not be far behind.

UPDATE: Colorado Confidential has more on the decision to hire Williams:

Politics is different from real life in a lot of ways; for one thing, a political campaign is the only business that you run where your goal is to go bankrupt. But I'll never understand why politics is also a business where your professional results are virtually irrelevant. If I applied for a job with Qwest, and my resume showed that I had run the last three companies I worked for into the ground, then I wouldn't expect to be hired. But if I went to Bob Schaffer and said that I lost the last few campaigns I oversaw, he might give me a job.

Schaffer may very well be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2008, but the way he's starting off, I wouldn't expect him to be the next Senator from Colorado.

Oh Dear God
This is not good.

ya,
and she ran the Beauprez campaign into the ground and divided the third cd with Walcher, who lost in the general.  Tell me what she's actually won?

"Leadership"
Bob's yanking her out of the obscurity of his "Leadership Program of the Rockies" operation. Definitely some "inside the box" thinking to come.

"inside the box" thinking
chuckle:)

Now all he needs to do
is hire John Marshall, and the dream team is complete.

throw in Alan Phipps and you'll have the three musketeers......or Larry, Moe and Curly

[ Parent ]
shari williams.......why does that name sound familiar?

Why don't you just say...
According to myself, instead of citing Colorado Confidential all the time, its getting old Jason.

LOL!
OK, this thread is really cracking me up today!

And?
Annoying it may be, it doesn't mean he isn't right.

[ Parent ]
Thank you!
Sweet Jesus!

You get the feeling that Colorado Confidential really isn't all that confidential after all.

Shari Shill
C'mon guys does anyone really think Shari will be running the show over at Schaffer Inc? It'll be Dick Wadhams, or did you forget he was back in town and only a few floors away from Ms. Williams.  I wonder if Schaffer is leasing space in the same building....

Schaffer may very well be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2008, but the way he's starting off, I wouldn't expect him to be the next Senator from Colorado
and why would that be a problem?

republicans are stuck in the mud
Their loyalty and pride is going to cost them any chance to influence the next decade of governance in this nation.  They rehire fire fools who lose them elections, and can't admit when they have made a terrible mistake and fire those fools like in Iraq.  So vote republican if you want to get stuck in tar and become a fossil.  We will be able to carbon date you back to May 1, 2003; Nov. 7, 2006; and Nov 4, 2008.

"We will be able to carbon date you"
OK, stop people.  I'm having way too much fun!

Well, I Guess the Schaffer Wants to Lose Then
Shari Williams is a hack of the highest order.  Next to Beauprez's bumbling, her mismanagement of his campaign last year is the reason he got drubbed so badly.  If Schaffer is dumb enough to hire her, he doesn't deserve to win, based on that decision alone.
