Opportunities for Economic Growth in Colorado

  • by: Barron X

.

Months ago, chatter about Yucca Mountain and long-term storage of high-level nuclear wastes was getting pretty silly,

with some people assuming that storage at Yucca Mountain posed a danger to human life (not demonstrably true,)

and me replying that I’d love to have the $10 Billion investment and 4,000 jobs here in Colorado (the town of Aguilar had offered to host a storage site years earlier for just those reasons.)

Well, opportunity knocks yet again:

.

If it was accompanied by a big chunk of federal aid and lots of jobs, why not ?

Really, a squad of irregulars is going to try to bust them out ?

How about if we build a couple more layers of physical security, and pay off-duty policemen and detention workers and firemen (and old farts like me) to staff a 100-strong Quick Reaction Force ?

That’s 500+ good-paying jobs.

Do we really want to ship them to a place we know they’ll be tortured, or keep them at GTMO until they expire ?

.

What danger does this pose ?

  1. thanks for the common sense on this issue. I don’t know why people are so afraid of housing the detainees here, shutting down Gitmo, and putting this whole chapter of our national history behind us.

We need to start proving that we’re better than our actions have shown us to be.

      1. Nobody seems to remember the fact that 33 terrorists are locked up in Florence already.

Maybe the fact that no one even remembers this is a testament to how well it is being run. Ironic.
