Most Jews here as well as in Israel believe, as I do, that a 2 state solution is the only long term answer and, that West Bank settlements make that less likely or even impossible.

I believe our foreign policy is heavily influenced by J Street lobbyists. These lobbyists and many Americans will call a candidate anti-Semitic if they don't support Isreal's continued efforts to build settlements in Palestinian areas. What do they know about consensus building, politicking, and negotiating? Not a whole lot. What do they know about law and regulation? Even less.
Plus the heads of departments (Trump's cabinet picks) have zero experience in governance. Trump chose big egos, corporate loyalties, and showmanship over bureaucratic finesse. Meanwhile, there will always be some underpaid career staffer (usually female) who knows where and how everything is filed and who to talk with about what. She or he can choose to expedite or delay stuff.
So yeah, I'm actually hoping for a clusterfuck. We know that Trump plans to come in during the first 100 days and conduct a "shock and awe" campaign against the American people. He's hoping that overwhelmed Dems won't know what hit them. Repeal Obamacare, privatize Medicare, Social Security, and the VA, rescind DACA, (and all other executive orders on overtime pay for Federal workers, etc) replace the NSEERS program to start registering Muslims, and oh yeah….build the wall and make Mexico pay for it.

Care at the VA is pretty good if you can get it, PP. The big problem has been the backlog.
Agree with V. Privatization, btw, has been happening for years on a case-by-case basis, as an attempt to deal with that backlog. The VA hospital only has a certain number of beds – not enough for the casualties of our warmongering country for the last 65 years. So the VA farms out veteran's care to private hospitals, which: a) are not experienced with veteran's issues, particularly mental health related, such as TBI and PTSD, and b) may or may not have access to records of care and prescriptions, c) are much more expensive to the taxpayer than VA care is.
This has been the experience of my family in dealing with our own disabled Vietnam veteran. He's gotten plunked down in hospital rooms with well-meaning folks who have no fricking idea what to do with him, other than to trank him up and keep him quiet for a few days.
Why is it important to you that veterans health care remain sub standard? What interest do you have in a program that you do not benefit from?
What makes you think I don't benefit from the VA? What makes you think that VA health care is substandard? What is your own experience?

Bernie, a member of the talking club, who is on a committee in the talking club, talking about the VA and nothing happens. You praise Bernie and his opposition to privatizing the VA so I assume you are consistent in opposition. Which you really are unless it benifts you or your family.
My experience. More than a year on a list for sleep study. Six months on a list to get a machine. Six weeks to get replacement equipment. Personal information released to media by a whistleblower. Medication on backorder. MERSA.
I once applied for a job at the VA. It was a low level job in a call center. Five, VA staff on the interview.
I count my self lucky.
The Veterans Choice program, as I mentioned in a previous post, is an attempt to deal with the backlog problem. My ex has used it to access vision care. If the VA is privatized, you're going to have some version of Veteran's Choice, administered by a bureaucracy which will inevitably act like a bureaucracy. It will be more expensive to the taxpayer than the VA is now. Unless you're really for ending free health care for veterans.
You'll be going to clinics and hospitals where they don't know you and don't really understand veteran's health issues. But if that's what you want, most of the GOP caucus has your back. They're looking forward to the banks being able to dip into that huge pool of taxpayer funding for veteran's care.
For the rest, 84% of veterans are satisfied with VA care. It needs to be adequately funded and staffed. But then, I'm a liberal, and that's how we do things.
