Nine seems to be the magic number:
Nine things you should do to protect yourself against a Trump presidency
Nine things Obama should do in his final weeks in office
Nine ways to oppose Donald Trump
Number of faithless electors required to deny Trump the White House: 37
The author wants 0bama to pardon the traitors EdwardSnowden and Bradley Manning. Their treason mostly benefitted Putin and his lap dog Donald Trump. So if anyone is going to pardon these traitors, it should be Trump.
Chelsea Manning, formerly Bradley Manning, should have her sentence commuted to time served. She is not asking for a pardon.
And I'd rather Snowden was in the US spilling his guts and hacking know-how to intelligence agencies under Obama than under Trump. Of course, if he stays in Russia, under Putin's supervision, then that will help Trump through Putin.
Snowden revealed the extent of US mass surveillance. I think we are better served by knowing than by not knowing. He doesn't seem particularly loyal to Putin now – he criticized Russian hacking of our data months before the election. We shouldn't give him reason to be forced to aid our enemies.
Sorry, but a purported sex change is no excuse for treason. Pvt. E-1 bradley manning should serve every day of his 35 year sentence. As for Snowden , let him surrender to U.S. authorities and we can talk deal. 20 years sounds about right.
But under no circumstances should Obama pardon traitors. P
Let Trump do it, they are his type of guys.
Snowden and Manning stole the data from their employer, not sure what hacking talents they have.
There is non doubt the government is corrupt. And the idea that Snowden could have achieve his goals through formalized whistleblower channels is doubtful. He would have been killed by the CIA. No pardon for Snowden at least he is still alive.
Manning needs to go back to active duty with no pay until he has paid the taxpayers back for his sex change.
While we are at it Bo whatever his name is should be executed.
Bradley manning isn't fit for active duty pear. As to Bowe Bergdahl, he is entitled to his day in court free from command infjuence. If you don't believe that, then you are the traitor.
Manning is fit to walk point. If he had been in Vietnam that's where he would have been until his mind was right, wouldn't have need a sex change.
If you don't believe that then you are the traitor. Seems I've heard that line before. And don't think I'm going to respond to your childish responses, I'm just feeling good today.
Manning is far too young to have served in Vietnam.
You took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution when you joined the army. That Constitution guarantees Bowe Bergdahl a full hearing under the uNiform code of military justice, free from command influence. You want to deny an American soldier his legal rights based on belches from Donald trump. Yes, stupid one, you are a traitor to the oath you took. You and Benedict Arnold would have been great pals. Your ethics are worse than even your spelling.
The reason ColoPols was created.
Dems still seem to be having acceptance problems.
President Trump.
Say it nine times every morning and get used to it.
He is the President of our country.
Wish him success because his success is our country's success.
When you see the misery in Aleppo, understand that it is the result of the failure of US policy.
When you see the rise of ISIS, understand that is the result of the failure of US policy.
When you see our enemies flaunt our country with impunity (China seizing an unmanned vessel this week, Iran humiliating US sailors, Russia hacking into our computer systems), understand that is the result of the failure of US policy.
Many thought it was time to change those policies.
The insider Dems who ensured Hillary would be the Dem candidate did not.
Republican overreach is beginning, and the Electoral College has not yet voted, the Inauguration is a month away, and even the new Congress Session is yet to begin. A month before the new Administration, and China is already responding to Trump's tweets with international incidents in pursuit of its long term goals.
Republican contradictions are coming to the fore. Trump apparently is naming Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC 5) to head the OMB. Considered a deficit hawk, I doubt he will simply "go along" and allow Republicans to act in ways that increase the budget deficit and national debt without comment. Notions of "tax cut now" and reduced spending later will likely be honestly reported.
Tell me again why our country succeeds when he succeeds in grabbing a woman's pussy? Or why our country succeds when he poisons our air and water with coal? Or when he sells out our national interest to Putin in gratitude for his election. Details, please.
Actually, Trump measures success in dollars going to the family businesses. His foreign financial dealings in fact undermine the security of our country. So no, Trump's success does not equal our country's success.
Pyrus – I probably struggle the most poking fun at you because of your service and that you've outed yourself. But when you post a comment like you did this morning it puts you in the same camp as Fluffy. By your own admission yesterday you claim you can't post on CPP; the fact you and your sidekicks get to participate in this forum, unlike the protocol administered on conservative websites who rarely tolerate dissent, gives this forum the higher ground whether you like the name-calling or not. You don't get to be a faceless internet bot and have feelings.
When you make statements saying we don't belong in another country's civil war and that VietNam, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan weren't worth the exercise, and in another breath say we need to go in and kill every man, woman, child and living thing until they want to fight no more – don't be surprised when someone suggests you up your meds. Or even begin to take you seriously. At that point your nothing more than a faceless, C-grade provocateur like our Librarian.
Michael, you don't need to hold back, give yourself over to the dark side knock yourself out.
Let me clarify, I don't post to CPP because it requires Java Script. My IT guy recommends deleting Java so I defer to him.
On the killing issue, I was referring to the situation where Condress had declared a declaration of war. Doubtful that will happen until after a nuclear device is detonated in the U. S.
Pols is a tit for tat population. For your every tit, I have a tat. Your links or my links are of no consequence for the closed minded contributors on this site. If you think this site represents high ground then you are wasting you talents. You should be a guest commentator for one of the newspapers, Statesman or Independent or Auto Trader, there you can make a difference.
Pompous Pyrus, Michael has been a guest commentator for the Denver Post, (See "Tilting the Keystone" 2 years ago today) and many other publications.
How many publications have you graced under your own name, exactly? I'm talking articles written by you, not about your misdeeds.
I would guess that you post no links to your sources because a) you don't know how ( you might ask that "IT guy"), or b) because your sources are all from fake news sites like Breitbart or white supremacist sites like Dailystormer.
'AutoTrader'. Sounds lucrative.
That's the spirit.
Yes but what about Auto Trader, it is read more than the Post.
If I'm correct the Pols has promoted two of my articles, you probably missed them.
Im still working on mastering this link thing. Let me know it it works.
With those kind of circulation numbers I'm not sure I'm up for that scale of rejection, Pyrus. Our Librarian pontificates the public loathing of me is only limited by my exposure to John Q. Public; a loathing that would only be exceeded by his personality if we actually knew his identity.
But thanks for the thought. I think it's best I just hide here where no one beyond our 25 regulars get the opportunity to really know me.
PS: when your promoted posts reach 40, call me. I'm on the inter webs. The celebration round is on me.
Powerful Prune wrote: "…..for the closed minded contributors on this site……." Last time I checked, my mind is not closed and perhaps you should clarify that. I keep my identity private on Pols, for several reasons, although a few people here do know my actual name. I commend Michael for using his real name.
And now it’s time to go shovel the 7 inches of “heavy flurries” out of my driveway.
CHB, You got heavy flurries? We got "a light dusting" that was up to my wife's calves this morning when she went out to shovel. Don't you just love how accurate the forecasters are in Colorful Colorado?
C.H.B. – your posts are much appreciated (and always verifiable). You're a gentleman. Given that I live amongst Trump and Fox-News-watching family I get exposed to both sides of political arguments on a regular basis. Our family dinners are pretty entertaining.
Happy Holidays!
I don't know the Librarian?
Pear,
That is a term of endearment used to describe moi.
Ok.
Pyrus – it's the irony of AC's anonymity: he fancies himself as a scholar of sorts in the ways of today's neo-conservative agenda – an agenda antithetical to the man who, in his 1889 article "The Gospel of Wealth", called on the rich to use their wealth to improve society, stimulating a wave of philanthropy. Carnegie wasn't talking about this kind of faux-philanthropy; he championed this scale of giving.
Happy holidays also to you, Michael.
That's bullshit. CPP , like Huffpost, currently allows posting about its fake news articles only through Facebook and Twitter. No anonymous posting. No javascript required. You can post your tits and tats til you're satisfied.
Guess you're not really all that comfortable with posting under your own name.
I agree with the idea that President Trump should have the support of all loyal Americans whether one agrees with him or not. He was the winner under our Constitution. As for Andrew's "blame game," Syria fully rests in Obama's hands. After all, he did draw a "line in the sand" on which he then failed to follow through; Syria is perhaps the biggest foreign policy failure of the Obama Administration.
Andrew is probably correct in saying the rise of ISIS is a failure also of US policy. But blame for that rests with Bush/Cheney, with their reckless & unwarranted invasion of Iraq.
"Enemies flaunt our country……" China seizing an unmanned vessel….that was an unclassified drone. Obama has, on multiple occasions, sent American warships sailing through the South China Sea areas "claimed" by China; said action which Andrew ignores. Russia hacking our computer systems……Obama has added billions to the fight against cyber-attack. Not his fault that the DNC and RNC IT people didn't keep their system security up to date–unless you're advocating that the government should assume responsibility for everyone's system security. Now that WOULD BE overreach. Iran humiliating US sailors–as I recall, they strayed into Iranian territorial waters and were promptly released.
C.H.B. – former CIA Director James Woolsey had a short piece on NPR yesterday about this. He's supporting the narrative from POTUS that the best counter-attacks are the ones the public never hears about.
Sometimes the public doesn't hear about counter attacks because they never take place. With our pajama-boy president, you can assume if you don't know about it the reason is because it either did not take place or was a failure.
Are you quoting sources or just listening to your gut?
Mr. Courage himself, the PissAnt, speaks.
You are, in fact, a traitorous piece of shit. You, who hasn't even the courage to identify yourself and be accountable for the hateful, racist slime you spread everywhere you go.
C'mon, hero..don't be a pajama-boy blogger. Man up..identify yourself.
CHB
A couple points.
The conditions for the spread of ISIS was the withdraw of all US forces from Iraq, rather than leaving a small force behind. The Dem talking point that the Iraqis would not agree to a status of forces agreement misses the point that 1, we did not push for one and 2, we have 5K troops there now without a status of forces agreement.
I do not suggest that Obama has not spent a lot of money on things like Cyber security. I fault him for doing nothing to those that attack us to deter attacks. I guess that is what you get when you make a community organizer your President.
we can say AC doesn't lie about everything. But, like any good Republican/Conservative, AC does lie about most things.
A lot of your ISIS friends were ex-Iraqi military whom we tortured.
Yeah, cuz we always put our troops in harm's way with no agreements.
And despite what you think about the "community organizers" trigger word and the fact that you did everything on your own without no stinking "government" help, the country is much better off with a CO as president than a half-assed, ignorant, misspelling, real estate hack as one.
Jesus, he's going to have WWIII started before he even gets sworn in – which will make all you war mongers very happy.
Yeah, but it will be a beautiful war. Believe me.
Actually, Andrew, the status of forces agreement was done by President Bush. He wanted to retain some US troops in Iraq, but the Iraqis would not guarantee not to prosecute US soldiers for "war crimes." So, all troops were to be withdrawn. President Obama carried out the Bush agreement, appropriately. We returned troops to Iraq after a change in government there, with al-Maliki out, and were asked back by the new government.
As for me making a community organizer as President, I did not vote for Mr. Obama in 2008. I voted for; and contributed $$ to; the McCain campaign.
Oops.
Debaathification under Bush, and the whole clusterfuck of the region began because of W's war built on lies. Assad is praising the unpresident, and Putin helped install him.
Like all good facist regimes Drumpf's seek to merge his corporate empire with the government.
The shit stinks, and the little Nuremberg Trio were just following orders, we will soon hear, when the odor becomes too great even for the kneepad wearing Congressional "leadership."
RE: Debaathification. Here's a piece on the Bush-Cheney operation via The Boston Globe
“unpresidented” – a Freudian slip, or a harbinger of things to come?
How so very appropriate! Unpresident Donald J. Trump has the ring of truth about it.
A heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers and veterans who braved the elements today to lay wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery (and others across the country).

2013: Trump says he and Putin have a GREAT relationship and that Putin watches and tracks his every move.
2016: Trump said he never had a relationship with Putin and doesn't know him.
The #GasLighting of America
It took Trump 3 years to contradict himself? He must have been snoozing or distracted by all the corrupt deals he was working on in the meantime. He normally only needs a few sentences, or maybe just a few words before he pulls a 180!
Remember the August announcement that DOJ would stop contracting to private prisons? Well...not so fast. The markets are signaling good times for lock-ups under a Trump administration. Go long CCA if you have no moral compass guiding your portfolio.
What is the word I'm looking for? A word common to both Donald and Vladimir?
Freed Pussy Riot members say prison was time of 'endless humiliations'
While the Israeli government pioneers medical cannabis research and sees the economic opportunity to export medical cannabis products, US-based Purdue Pharmaceuticals plans to take it's Merchant of Death concoction world-wide.
Meanwhile in America, legal cannabis is more popular than the two political parties that keep medical cannabis illegal.
Here’s an idea for the next Congress: give every farmer who would agree to give up Farm Bill subsidy programs and safety nets the legal right to grown cannabis?
We still suffer from an inability to distinguish helpful and useful drugs from those that are mostly harmful. Opiods such as oxycodone have a limited use for severe pain, but they do have that "happy brain" effect, so are highly addictive.
Opiods were certainly helpful when I broke my elbow recently. But I never took the maximum dose, and weaned myself off quickly, finding that using turmeric for inflammation and comfrey and MSM for bone growth and cartilage replacement were milder, cheaper, and not addictive. Turmeric may be "addictive" in that one can't stop taking it, but what the hell…it's a spice that costs like $5 a pound.
I recently sat through a professional workshop that taught me how to distinguish between symptoms of the various stimulants and opiods out there. I now know to look at pupils of eyes, watch for tremors, etc.
Yet this same PD educator also taught that "cannabis is cannabis", and that there is essentially no difference between THC pot and hemp. I tried to question and call him out on it, but was kind of dismissed – after all, he was the expert. The net effect is that the police educator lost credibility with much of his audience. – when we think we're being lied to about one thing, we're skeptical of everything.
The ignorance related to cannabis is stunning. It just proves the point that if (your government) tells a big enough lie for a long enough period of time…
Cannabis fact of the day: in 1942 our federal government gave every 4-H club in Kentucky enough hemp seed to plant two acres. That crop was harvested for seed in the fall of 1942 and was the seed supply for the 1943 Hemp for Victory campaign across the seven midwestern states.
Regarding the word marijuana, sometimes spelled marihuana: it's widely believed that marijuana is a plant (it's not). It is a word coined in 1894 by Hubert Bancroft who wrote an article for a woman's magazine about young women on the island of Jamaica who got stiffed by a young man. Most of the young women in Jamaica were named Maria and Joanna. Bancroft put the names together as marijuana. They were the marijuana girls who knew they could get the guys stoned and put in jail by using buds from the Cannabis/ hemp plants in preparing a dinner for the guys.
As the years went by the word marijuana replaced the words
Cannabis and hemp. The worst application of the word was made when U.S. Senators and Representatives who put it into the Controlled Substance Act. Today, marijuana, cannabis and hemp are randomly interchanged, rarely applied properly in a sentence or statement.
The industrial hemp plant, benign in its drug properties and highly utilitarian, remains on Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. Until the recent national push to remove the plant from the scheduling, DEA made no distinction between hemp and marijuana from an enforcement standpoint.
You're right about the words, Michael, but I hate the "m" word and refuse to use it. As you probably know, the reason the government was so enamored of that word was because it “sounded Mexican" and the prejudice toward Mexican migrant labors in the 30's was rampant. So they slapped a word on that plant that reminded upstanding, law-abiding Americans of "those dirty Mexicans 'coming to take jobs from the Dustbowl refugees’" of whom they weren't particularly fond, either. Sound familiar? The more things change…
Spot. On. Analysis. Hearst did "hate him some Mexicans"; he was the fake news of the day and could spread this news far and wide via his newspaper empire.
