(The one way to truly fix TABOR – promoted by DavidThi808)
Hi all! I am floating this trial balloon to guage reactions. I would love to hear all opinions even from those who are not comfortable posting to a blog site. (They can email me at dan@dan-willis.com)
I am interested in hearing your opinions about calling a State Constitutional Convention. Would you support such a thing or not and why?
Just so you know what it involves and timeline:
1. The Convention would have to be called (by either 2/3 of the legislature or thru the intiative process). Such a call must be approved by the voters (2010 general election)
2. Convention members are elected in partisan elections at a general election. Two people are elected from each State Senate District (2012 general election)
3. The Convention begins within 3 months after the election (Jan/Feb 2013). They can choose to totally rewrite or simply offer a multi-subject packet of amendments in one ballot question.
4. The resulting Constitution would be voted on by the people 2-6 months following the end of the Convention. (Theorectically would likely be in Nov. 2013, assuming the Convention could wrap up by late August).
