1. Republicans are cowards and are the ones treating our Constitution like Charmin.

   Jefferson knew that calling the king a tyrant was an irrevocable step toward confrontation with the greatest military power on earth by a confederation of states that barely had an army worthy of the name. He knew that simply using the word was enough to get his neck stretched if things went badly. Yesterday, the House of Representatives, in one way or another, called a twice-elected president a tyrant. It said, in one way or another, that he had violated his oath of office. If either or both of those is true, then there is only one remedy under the Constitution these people claim to so revere, and it is not a frivolous lawsuit. It is to bring articles of impeachment against the president.

   You don't take tyrants to court, goddammit. You risk everything to overthrow them. But the House of Representatives, and the Speaker who presides over it, knows that doing their constitutional duty is a political risk, so they don't have the sand to fulfill it. Jefferson was willing to break with a king he called a tyrant even if it meant facing down the British army.

   John Boehner is not willing to risk impeaching a president his House called a tyrant if it means a four-point drop in a CNN poll. When cowards try to make history, history is mocked.

   Doug Lamborn is a COWARD and an IDIOT. A trained lawyer so ignorant of history he repeats Fox News talking points as if they are fact. A trained lawyer so ignorant of the law he'd be incompetent to represent someone for so much as a parking ticket.

    “These are the power-hungry actions of a president who refuses to work with Congress,” Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) said on the House floor Wednesday. “The people’s representatives will not turn a blind eye to the lawlessness of this president.”

2. Obama to R's: Fuck You

   President Obama is showing just how worried he is about Republican squealing over his executive actions by coming out with another executive order to protect employees of federal contractors. According to a White House fact sheet, the new executive order will require companies seeking federal contracts of $500,000 or more to disclose their recent violations of a host of labor laws, including minimum wage and overtime, civil rights, safety and health, and other protections. "The most egregious violations," and especially repeat offenders, will then be taken into consideration in awarding contracts.

   The White House says this will improve contractor performance, citing a study finding that:

   … 28 of the companies with the top workplace violations from FY 2005 to FY 2009 subsequently received federal contracts, and a quarter of those companies eventually had significant performance problems as well—suggesting a strong relationship between contractors with a history of labor law violations and those that cannot deliver adequate performance for the taxpayer dollars they receive.  

   Because the companies with workplace violations are more likely to encounter performance problems, today’s action will also improve the efficiency of federal contracting and result in greater returns on federal tax dollars.
