Arapahoe DA will investigate King’s conduct
http://www.gjsentinel.com/news/articles/arapahoe-da-will-investigate8232-kings-conduct/
Per ususal, the on-going saga of Senator Steve King's travails is behind a firewhile but here's the salient part:
"A district attorney from Arapahoe County — not the Colorado Bureau of Investigation — is now tasked with investigating alleged misconduct by state Sen. Steve King, the Republican candidate for Mesa County Sheriff.
The Office of the District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District will investigate King “to ensure an independent and objective review” of the case,…"
It seems Assistant DA Mark Hurlbert, of Kobe Bryant prosecution fame, has been assigned to do the investigation. This should be interesting – stay tuned!
Smart move by Hilkey, but I have little confidence in Hurlbert since the Kobe fiasco and the Mark Joel Erizinger non-prosecution

Oh gee look. The reddest states with governors and state legislatures most devoted to far right economic theory are also the poorest. Who'd a thunk?

Not only the poorest, but, excluding those states currently undergoing an O&G boom, the slowest to recover from the recession.
hopefully, cantaloupes will get a mention
From the Greeley Tribute
Well, isn't this young man just the sharpest tool in the shed? Young Henry had me for a (very) brief moment – and then I read his bio:
I'm thinking young Henry missed a class or two in 'ecologic systems'. Did the fine young man miss the recent Harvard study that calculated the negative externalities of coal at over 16 cents per killowatt-hour? Perhaps he missed the news stories of his native Pennsylvania where there are over 100,000 natural gas wells spewing methane? Or perhaps he missed the study on VOC's and aromatics in our gasoline (that could be readily replaced by advanced biofuels should his friends at the American Petroleum Institute stopped their perennial lawsuits against the EPA) where the external health costs of combusting those aromatics is something north of $300 billion annually?
I think it would be benficial for young Henry to take a drive to Lamar and see how that 'free market' and an electric grid 'based on 20th century fuels' is working out for residents of the Lower Arkansas River Valley. And then, travel back to the Front Range were our 30% renewable portfolio standard, the second most-aggressive in the United States, is delivering ever-cheaper power with almost zero negative external costs.
If young Henry is in the queue for a diploma from Swathmore anytime soon, perhaps Swathmore should rethink their standards. On a high note, I'm pretty sure he'd qualify today as a senior advisor to one of our candidates for Governor. Or perhaps City Manager for the mythical, free-market panacea at Colorado's most infamous mythical town, Backbone?
The reality of the matter is the ones with real backbones (and the cahones to match them) are the ones who reject this failed ideology.
CPT-12 TV & the Indie Inst. Someone should examine the funding of both, to see if entwined. Ok, the mention of an up & coming “expert” reminds me of an episode on Devil’s Advocate (CPT 12) which was (fill-in) hosted by Independence Inst Amy Oliver Cooke, (VP of energy at the Indie) as well as R-wing radio of the Weld Co; her guest, a wet behind the ears, straight from Shale frack fields of Penn. Somehow, the conversation veered towards drilling byproducts, (probably at a time when curbs were being legislated by Colo) or such, this intern pronounced benzene to be “OK” , ‘cause it was “organic” ( from chemistry, the C6 hydrocarbon is the foundation of a vast group of compounds, it gets its own classification of “ organic ring chemistry”) Never mind the API classifies benzene as carcinogenic. (California bans its inclusion in the formulation of gasoline) from the "Sci ain’t my friend" RWNJs file.
The new paradigm of economic cost of damage to the environment hasn't been addressed yet in class. He's still mastering supply and demand.
He's a 47 %er, but at least an aspirational 47 %er mastering the craft of selling everything and everyone else out for his narrow gain at the Independence Institute like a good Caldara jerkoff in training does.
"Future leader". Sad.
If there was ever a video that encapsulated the entirety of the 'Future Leaders' agenda, (and by default put them on the short list for a Governor Beauprez appointment), it's this one:
(if you're offended by a few 'F' bombs, this video isn't for you.)

A few more "leaders" of this ilk and no one on this planet will have to worry about any kind of future . . .
Idiots like to complain about the liberal bias at TPTSNBN, but even searching their site it's hard to find anything about the economy adding 288K jobs last month.
Moddy, AC — yoohoo –someone's calling your name . . . !
AC responds to "trollboy".
Here you go. Plenty more sources. Heard it on NPR this morning, too.

And as a result, the Dow Jone Industrial Average closed at a new record above 17,000! And we need Republicans running the government because?
The recovery may be slow and uneven thanks to GOP attempts (and successes) at sabotage, but at least for the moment, we seem to be in another "Goldilocks" economy where we aren't rushing head-long into another bubble, but we aren't in a '70's era of stagflation.
I have a lot of confidence in Janet Yellen to keep a tight rein on inflation and debt bubbles. Now if we could just keep the thieves on Wall Street from picking our pockets (and retirement savings) again.
As Michael Bowman has indicated many times, we have tremendous opportunities in new energy and innovative and enlightened farming practices. We need to get the old energy companies off the taxpayer dole to unleash our future!
A short list of things that just never die . . .

Dick Cheney (ok — yes, that's redundant — id. vampires)
and, and, and . . . oh yeah . . .
