    1. Thanks, Ralphie. At least, we don't have an OMG Udallcare cartoon pinned to the top of the thread all day.

In other news, now the right wing hates honeybees! Why? Of course, because Obama likes them and is trying to save them (and, incidentally, most of the world's food supply). See the CNN video about why bees are dying:

        1. Nothing to worry about. I'm sure Dow or Monsanto can patent pollens to save the crops and sell it to farmers at exorbitant prices. Oops, Probably shouldn't give them ideas.

          1. skinny – I wrote a diary on the Monsanto challenge during the Farm Bill debate last November.  I should re-write it as it is only funny to a few of us who lived in that world on a daily basis at the time.  However, the diary is rich in linked articles that have a lot of (frightening) background information.  A chemical company – turned food goliath.  It couldn't be any more 'merikun.  They're all part of a very special club in DC, "The Revolving Door"

"When people are trying to kill you and when they attack because they hate freedom, other disputes from Frankenfood to bananas and even important issues like the environment suddenly look a bit different." – Condoleeza Rice, George Bush's National Security Adviser

          2. It will only take the ignorant, Republicans decades of denial, trivialization and obstruction before they come out on the right side of this scientific issue as well.

Niconoids.  Nico, what ?  Can ya see em ?  We don't need no stinkin' bees !

      1. So now we just need Obama to deny climate change, oppose emissions regulation, gay marriage, any degree of control of weaponry in private hands, equal pay for equal work, raising the minimum wage, the right to choose, comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship and get him to demand we send troops to Iraq, Syria and Ukraine.

If  Repugs can oppose honeybees, necessary for, you know, keeping us supplied with food just because Obama supports their survival (and ours), they obviously have only one agenda; opposing anything Obama is for. That takes precedence over anything else they claim to believe in and we should do our best to put that to good use. At the very least it would cause their spin machine to explode. Oh and Michelle Obama should demand nothing but twinkies and soda pop be served at public schools and strongly oppose physical activity.

        1. There is a funny skit by Key and Peele that does exactly that: Obama's meeting with GOP lawmakers and he starts opposing tax increases for the rich, abortion, immigration reform, etc.  The Romney lookalikes go nuts feeling forced to support all of those things.  Hilarious!

      2. As much as the European honeybee, an introduced species, we should be worried by the disappearance of the native bees and other native pollinaters.

  1. Republican Senator says funding the VA just too darned expensive:

The war on terror started on September 11, 2001. Congressional leadership has had almost 13 years to build up the VA with enough staff and facilities to care for the wounded from two wars. After news broke that the VA was failing our veterans, the Senate finally began to act. A bill was brought to the Senate floor that would allow the VA to contract with private medical facilities, enabling veterans facing long waits to get quicker treatment. The VA would also be able to use $500 million from its current budget to hire more medical staff. While I do not agree with allowing veterans to go to private medical facilities, this bill was a good start. The organization clearly needs more doctors, more nurses, more staff, more facilities. Only three senators voted against this bill. Of those three, one of them is my senator, Ron Johnson (R-WI).

Sen. Johnson said that he couldn’t support the bill because of its cost—$35 billion the first two years and $50 billion per year after that, according to a preliminary estimate by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

This is the same Sen. Johnson who said in a recent MSNBC interview that the current crisis in Iraq was caused because President Obama was not forceful enough about keeping troops in the country when the war ended. I am sure he would have found the money for that. I wonder if Senator Johnson would whine about the costs of the VA if just one of his three children had spent a year or more in some godforsaken hellhole like Afghanistan or Iraq.

This disgusting human being, whose highest goal is to maintain tax cuts for the most wealthy Americans, is the kind of person we have to work against, the kind of person who gets hundreds of thousands of votes from our most ignorant fellow citizens.

Just a reminder Ron Johnson (not the felon associated with Gov. Scott Walker) tried to explain economic situation to his fellow Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin when she was first elected to the senate:

In an Associated Press interview on Wednesday, Johnson said he hoped he would be able to work with Baldwin in the Senate — as soon as he explained the "facts" of the budget to her.

How ignorant is Ron Johnson of reality and his fellow senator's qualifications?

"I was a double major in college in mathematics and political science, and I served for six years on the House Budget Committee in my first six years in the House," Baldwin responded in an interview with The Huffington Post on Friday.

"And I am very confident that when proposals come before the U.S. Senate, I will be able to evaluate them as to how they benefit or harm middle-class Wisconsinites. A yardstick of 'does it create jobs,' 'does it lower the deficit' and 'does it help grow the middle class' is an important one. I'm quite confident that I have those abilities," she added.

Baldwin has served in Congress since 1999; Johnson took office in 2011.

Yes, just another dumass Tea Partier who rejects reality, discounts science, and ignores any fact that does not fit his blinkered world view. Unfortunately, they aren't just in Wisconsin…..they are everywhere.

    1. OK then. Let's add that to the list of things Obama needs to oppose; funding to take proper care of our vets, along with demanding more wars to create more vets in need. Then watch rightie opposition to anything Obama supports, their only guiding principle, kick in.

      1. Fortunately this looks like a minor deal in the grand scheme of things. One analysis said that the decision means the Federal government can regulate 83% of the nation's CO2 output rather than 86%, and that the decision effectively clears the administration's proposed new Clean Air rules of challenges to EPA authority.

        1. It's a good day for clean energy and clean air advocates.  I'm guessing the Holcomb coal plant looks slightly untantalizing as of this morning…

  2. Just for a good laugh, I went to the StudyFracking website because it had an ad here on Pols.  This is ostensibly where you can get all your answers about fracking answered.  There is a window to type your question in, so I typed in "what is in fracking fluid ? "

No matter what question you ask it just directs you to the FAQ page.

    1) Ask us anything about fracking !

    2) What is in fracking fluid ?

    3) OK, here are some generic answers about fracking
