What Colorado Needs Now Is Gov. "Shotgun Willie's"

Mike Dunafon, 59, the Libertarian mayor of Glendale whose fiancee owns Shotgun Willie’s, is promising on his website to petition onto the gubernatorial ballot this fall if he can get more than 60,000 “likes” on his Facebook page by April 6, his 60th birthday.

Should he do so, he’s promising to run as an “unaffiliated, independent, standalone candidate.”

He’s just over 18,000 likes at the moment.

“I will rely on our communication on Facebook, Twitter and all the social media to change the face of politics on the planet, not just Colorado and the United States,” Dunafon says in the video outlining his “60 for 60″ challenge. [Pols emphasis]

Mike is attempting to start a political revolution, or as he puts it “An American Spring,” by showing that a regular independent citizen, who refuses to take money from anyone, can win a major political office using social media to unleash the power of the ideas of liberty, independence and individual rights to overcome the overwhelming big money advantages enjoyed by the political parties and incumbent candidates.

60 for 60! On April 6, 2014, Mike will be 60 years old and has promised that if his FaceBook Fan page has 60,000+ Likes by his 60th birthday, that he will run for Governor of Colorado in the November General Election as an Independent, stand-alone candidate.

So if you agree that we need to get the money out of politics, and that we need more liberty and less government surveillance and control, and that politicians should only be beholden to voters rather than corporate sponsors, then ‘LIKE’ his Facebook page and join us in spreading the word about Mike to folks in your area, as we change the face of American politics.

Here's a link to Dunafon's Facebook page, if you're inclined to join the revolution! We wouldn't be a bit surprised if he crushes the 60,000 Facebook "likes" he's set a goal for, and actually mounts a third-party bid for Governor of Colorado America the entire planet. Given the lackluster field of Republican candidates to challenge incumbent Gov. John Hickenlooper, we could honestly see Mayor Dunafon pulling a fair number of votes–either as a Libertarian or an unaffiliated candidate. Think Jesse Ventura with a more…appealing entourage.
