From a press release:
The United Mine Workers of America Region 4 have endorsed At-Large City Council candidate Debbie Ortega. “The UMWA experience in the past, having Debbie Ortega represent our workers on the Denver City Council, is that Debbie has been a proven fighter for working families,” Region 4 Director Robert Butero said, “and it’s our honor to endorse her again, and we look forward to working with her on the Denver City Council in the future.”
“As a daughter and sister of mine workers, I am honored to receive the support of the UMWA.” Debbie Ortega said in reaction to the endorsement. “After the death of my father in a mining accident, I understand the importance of safety in this dangerous profession. I look forward to contributing where I can, working for the miners not just in Denver, but all over this country, in keeping the workplace safe and jobs secure.”
