Senate Dems are probably going to have to eat that shit-sandwhich that is the CR…if they go forward with a shutdown (my original preference) then they gift NaziTechBro a list of Federal employees he can try and fire immediately as "non-essential" –
Sources tell WIRED that Elon Musk has wanted a government shutdown in part because it would potentially make it easier to eliminate the jobs of hundreds of thousands of federal workers.
MONEY QUOTE – "Ahead of a shutdown, federal employees are effectively classified into essential or nonessential work, with nonessential employees furloughed and not allowed to work until the shutdown ends. According to federal agency contingency plans compiled by the nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service in 2023, when a federal shutdown was narrowly averted, the pool of workers who would be subject to being furloughed then numbered about 850,000, with about 410,000 of those being outside the Department of Defense."

I've survived a few shutdowns (both on Active Duty and as a Fed) and for the agencies I worked for the classification between "essential" and "non-essential" was always for contingency operations to keep the lights on, not as a permanent operating standard. But that nuance is lost on the NaziTechBro, and he can point to that list of "non-essentials" as ripe for firing, because the Agency itself came up with the list (and not him and his teenie coder army.)
The best the Dems can do at this point is make the entire process as painful an drawn-out as possible, using every media opportunity and procedural vote to lay the groundwork for the 2026 "I TOLD YOU SO" Election campaign….if we have one.
ICYMI: Hick had a virtual townhall yesterday. I wish he would have done this in person so we could have had more of a real-time discussion instead of him picking the questions beforehand. It makes me wonder if he lacks the courage of his convictions. #sad. https://www.youtube.com/live/K8IVRI_ScJc?si=8FVrfe1pSse1xdx6
Hicks' convictions don't seem to go beyond taking care of his OilyBoy friends. Hick is a rich guy…and thinks that way. I have been privy to his great double-cross of the environmental community and thusly, his betrayal of the people and wild critters of Colorado.
My opinion of Senator Hickenlooper is based, primarily, on my personal experience with John Hickenlooper during his "Gov. Frackenlooper" days.
If you are looking for a champion of the people, look elsewhere.

I've known since college (Physics major) that what we know is constantly disproven as additional research is performed. But it still shocks me when I see specific cases.
