Hot on the heels of last week’s contentious text blast from supporters of the school voucher Amendment 80 which falsely (to put it mildly) suggested the measure has the support of the state’s largest teacher’s union the Colorado Education Association, this weekend another misleading text blast went out–this time with a disclaimer identifying the source as Amendment 80 proponent Colorado Dawn, with another highly dubious message about the “Democrats across Colorado” voting for this right-wing monkeywrench aiming for our public schools:

We’ve edited this image to reduce the free advertising value as much as possible. Even Colorado’s famously pro-charter school Gov. Jared Polis is staying out of the fight over Amendment 80, warning that the measure could lead to “costly litigation with uncertain outcomes.” But coming from this shadowy “dark money” group already beset with authenticity problems, the photo is the real punchline:

As some recipients probably deduced from the perfect lighting and the most precisely intersectional group of photogenic people of all ages Central Casting can deliver, these are not “Democrats across Colorado.” This stock photo is in use across the internet to sell health care, dental care, investment products, and probably more than a few outright scams.
To the list of the latter you can now add the Amendment 80 campaign, at least good enough after provoking a complaint last week to tell us who they are.
