  1. To show his fealty to "America's Hitler", JD Vance happily swims in the cesspool of Trumpism.

“History will remember Joe Biden as not just a quitter, which he is, but as one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States of America,” Vance said in Virginia. “But my friends, Kamala Harris is a million times worse and everybody knows it. She signed up for every single one of Joe Biden’s failures, and she lied about his mental capacity to serve as president.”

Once again proving that in today's GOP, there is no bottom.  "Everybody knows it"

    1. Rope-a-dope. Who remembers Cassius Clay?

Trump kept swinging punches at Joe Biden: “You’re old and senile; You’re old and senile…” Biden kept smiling: “Hit me again asshole; Hit me again. I’m rubber and you’re glue.”

  2. Swift Boating & Republicans Working the Refs (i.e. the Mainstream Journalist), David Kurtz at TPM

The initial round of GOP attacks on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris have so far been scattershot, inconsistent, self-contradictory, and often comical. But we’ve seen it all before, and we know how this works.

The volume and intensity of the attacks – deeply suffused with misogyny and racism – represent 1,000 trial balloons. Some will pop on their own and others will get shot down immediately, but eventually a few will get through the blitz of counterattacks. Those few will offer a clue as to what “works,” and they’ll form the basis for additional rounds of attacks playing off of the same theme or underlying premise, however false it may be.

Repeated often enough, the attacks will slowly accrete into a “thing” that unsophisticated editors and reporters notice.

What began as toxic, racist, misogynistic drivel is a now a trap that has ensnared the candidate. At each step of the way, the audience for the lie, mistruth, or innuendo has broadened. Each subsequent iteration repeats the attack again to everyone who already heard it before. What started as scattershot attacks has now become a sustained drumbeat that sneakily enters the public consciousness almost undetected.

  3. Amazing fundraising numbers out this morning!

Harris campaign says it has raised $100 million since Biden's exit from White House race

    By Victor Reklaitis

The fundraising haul is a sign that many Democrats are rallying around Harris as their likely presidential nominee

The Big Number: The Kamala Harris presidential campaign and its affiliates have raised $100 million in donations since President Joe Biden exited the White House race on Sunday and then endorsed the vice president, a campaign spokeswoman said in a social-media post on Tuesday morning.

What people are saying: "Small-dollar donors are fired up and ready to take on this election," ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform, said in a social-media post.

Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, also voiced enthusiasm, writing on social media that Harris is "the right person at the right time."

On Monday afternoon, the campaign said in a statement that its total haul of $81 million at that time – brought in by the campaign, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees – ranked as the "highest 24-hour raise of any candidate in history."

What it means: The fundraising haul is a sign that many Democrats are rallying around Harris as their likely presidential nominee in the wake of Biden's much-anticipated decision on Sunday.

  4. Random musings from one of the resident registered Republicans around here………

    1) with Biden at the top of the D ticket, I was expecting the pendulum to swing back a little for the Rs to regain a few seats in the Legislature. Now, with Harris as the presumed nominee, and knowing the ability of Dave Williams & cronies to keep shooting themselves in the collective foot, I don’t see that swing happening (at least as of today).

    2) Colorado may be headed towards having Lauren Boebert as the titular head of the Colorado GOP, if she is the senior elected official. Not an improvement over Dave Williams. Where’s Dick Wadhams when we need him?

      1. You probably meant “my (your) party,” but I hear you. I’m not putting much into campaigns this year. I have kicked in a little to one Republican candidate. But I had to go all the way to Pennsylvania to find a decent R who was already known to me (Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick).

  5. Beautiful…

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday shows Harris now leading Trump by two percentage points—44 percent to 42 percent. Trump has led every other Reuters poll throughout June and July against both Biden and Harris – Newsweek

  6. Oh Nos!!  Voter Suppression!!!

Secret Service asks Trump campaign to stop holding outdoor rallies, following assassination attempt in Pennsylvania

Donald Trump's campaign is scouting indoor venues, such as basketball arenas and other large spaces where thousands of people can fit, said people familiar with the request who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private discussions. But those indoor events would be a marked change for Trump, who has held hundreds of outdoor rallies since launching his first presidential bid.
