  1. Participated in my county Dem assembly today ( by zoom). It was a little boring and repetitive, lots of waiting, some curmudgeons longing for the old in-person days, some people demanding that exceptions to the rules get made for them just because they are that special, a lot of computer illiteracy. Lots of patience, lots of opportunities to weigh in.

So a bit tedious, but still awesome compared to the alternative. I had my grandkids at home this morning, and they were able to vicariously observe the process. Don't know what they retained, if anything. Who said, "Representative Democracy is a terrible system — except for the alternative."

I'm thinking Mark Twain, Studs Terkel? Probably not Vladimir Putin.

    1. I caucused this morning and got home with mixed feelings. Turnout was not good, probably partially because of nice weather and partially because the political races were not that scintillating. That was sort of a bummer. But on the good side, the fact that a not-insignificant number of people got together at all, to meet neighbors and talk the smack, is keeping me from getting too down in the dumps.

      1. My caucus in Denver County HD-9 had 3 precincts in one room.  I was worried for a moment, then I realized the attendance was 1, 2, and 4 for the three caucuses.

We collapsed into a single discussion and then broke out for the voting — where the common opinion was "the candidates are competent and at this point, we don't know enough to prefer one over the others."

Not a scintillating political mechanics meeting.

  2. The 12-year-old referenced by Katie Britt who was human trafficked at 12 years old was Karla Jacinto Romero and it happened under George W. Bush, in Mexico,  not in the US under Biden

I think we can all agree that trafficking of all kinds is deplorable. What I can’t figure out whether the Republican clown car is actually full of hapless deceptors or there is some strategy behind incidents like this. Yeah, yeah…the base eats it up, everyone else paying attention watches the accelerated disintegration of the Grand Old Party.

  3. Good to see some MSM outlets actually challenging the GOP on this litany of lies they had their tradwife weirdo spew at us, but it's still not getting the traction it deserves.

    1. The problem is the sexist play of putting her in a kitchen works making her look like she is naive. Attacking her makes Democrats look hard, uncaring, and against… multiple emergent personalities, abuse victims, frightened women?. I dont think thats actually her, far from it shes a very Intelligent accomplished person, who clearly is manipulative. I think what we saw is when AAA ball players are called up to the majors and flame out. A lot of what she did was manipulative enough that had her lies been limited to Alabama probably would have gotten a result.

  4. Am I the only one who can't get onto Pols a whole bunch of times every week? I get a lot of messages like "connection timed out." This never used to happen.

    1. We have a new problem with our caching plugin that is causing the time to go unresponsive from time to time. Over the weekend we had the site up and down trying to fix this issue and we're hoping to get it cleared up today. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
