We’re knee-deep in fixes to the new design. Pardon our mess while we clean up.

Morning.
Finally, the Democrats are getting their shit together …..
New York Democrats take page out of GOP playbook in effort to flip House (msn.com)
This should offset what was done by the GOP in NC recently. But the Dems need to get aggressive elsewhere if they want to overtake the Republicans.
PS What happened in Alabama and what is apparently happening in Louisiana is good news.
Louisiana must draw new congressional map by mid-January for 2024 elections | Louisiana | The Guardian
Maybe they can change Louisiana CD 4 into the new minority/majority district.
I download loggo.svg and it is bad. You do not put bit-mapped images into a file and then just label it .svg.
The V is for vector and it appears that there are no vector images in the file.
IANA GD, (Graphic Designer), but I am a web guy. While the new look is cleaner, I think the dark blue and ochre is just aggressive. Light blue and paler yellow would be more peaceful.
The pale blue in the Read-more comment screen is much more peaceful.
Just tried to reply to one of the above comments, just to see if could reply. And I can’t. I couldn’t on the old site either. Don’t know if it’s because my primary device is an iPad or if I’ve been put on some sort of naughty list. Or just because……
There does seem to be an issue with commenting via an iPad. Thanks for flagging
I’m on an ad, and had no problem replying to others’ posts.
* On an Ipad
Still unable to edit comments.
That's interesting, kwtree. It used to work, but stopped maybe a year or so ago for me. I'm currently on iOS 17.0.3
What version are you running?
Thanks
IOS 16.7.2 Ipad air 4th gen.
I notice that replying, or commenting in general, often doesn’t work the first time. One has to make several attempts to get the blinking cursor in the “reply to” box. But that was an issue on the last iteration of Pols, too.
Yeah, we're on different cpu generations but the software isn't that far apart. No idea what might explain the differences. I get the cursor and virtual keyboard immediately when I "Leave a comment" to the end of the thread, but no amount of tapping (pounding) on the screen will generate a cursor with the virtual keyboard after opening a "reply" window on my iPad.
Like you, this behavior has been consistent for quite some time with the old Pols platform as well.
I tried Googling for iPad keyboard help but didn't find anything that worked (it occurred to me the issue is that the virtual keyboard doesn't pop up for replies — just for "Leave a comment"). So perhaps there is a configuration/permissions setting on the website that is different between a "Reply" and a new standalone comment.
I and others had that same issue with our iPads. While we couldn't reply directly to the comment, I believe you could go to the bottom of the thread in order to add a comment. My solution was to go to my PC. I'll check my iPad to see if that is a continuing issue.
Well, while you’re at it, I also can’t copy and paste. Links or otherwise. Very annoying
I can copy and paste and block quote. Just have to be persistent and patient with the select pop up menu.
*but NOT block quote.
Don't think I like the new format. Looks like a LOT more scrolling to get to the meat (I like it lean.)
Yep, the problem with replying from an iPad persists. It’ll open the reply window but won’t accept any input.
Yahoo! Got logged in again. New format looks great Pols. Should take long to get used to the new features. It's kind of like moving into a new house that still has a punch list.
Reminds me of the old saying. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Can you bring back the link to the comments on each post. Sometimes if a post is on a topic I am pretty up to speed on I’ll go down to see what the comments are before reading. Thanks
What he said…
Jennifer Rubin is fed up with inane political reporting that she believes is missing the real issues.
Hmm, I'm pretty sure I hit the " tool to indent the quoted sections of Jennifer Rubin's column. But it didn't seem to take. Can't edit the comment, so I just wanted to clarify that those are her words, not mine.
I love Jennifer Rubin.
I’ve been wondering about the validity of all the “Biden is DOOMED” coverage. I would guess the intention behind it is the usual: distract, demoralize divide Democrats and others who vote center-left, like Colorado’s unaffilated/independent majority. This goes with the narrative, also a repeat of HRC v Trump 2016, that Biden is frail and senile. Also, I would take Biden on a bad day over the Addled Autocrat on any of his “good days”.
There’s a reason he won’t appear in public debates.
With any functional justice system, $rump would be declared ineligible due to his many crimes and supporting insurrection. That could yet realistically happen. Chaos would ensue…which is the new normal.
My prediction FWIW: a year from now, we’ll be dancing in the streets again.
So you know, Jennifer Rubin is a conservative.
Yep, I've followed her for several years. The fact that she is the most rational, clear-headed, commonsense columnist around mitigates any particular policy differences I might have with her 😉
This is a reply to kwtree (since replies do not seem to appear as replies . . . ):
I'm getting my dancing shoes ready. But first need twelve months in some heavy duty working boots.
Replying to realist:
indeed. It will take coordinated and cooperative organizing. All hands on deck.
Sounds right.
I saw the article and liked it a great deal — especially a line about the easiest work ever, finding worried Democrats.
My first post on the new version….here it goes. The NYT reports:
Lauren Boebert Wants ‘Mercy.’ Some Republicans Want an Alternative.
Alva – I used block quote when I posted but it's not working. Was going to go back in and enter them manually but no edit function. Also went into my account and changed the avatar but that's not sticking, either.
PS: my reply isn't nested into my comment thread, either.
Something else that needs fixed, Alva. There is nothing that marks most recent (new) comments in a thread. That needs to come back.
Perhaps a reply could be in a different colored box with "replied" as opposed to "says"
Can’t say I was aware of it, but a sizable segment of the world’s population celebrates this holiday.
Kristen Welker, interviewed Israel, Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu today. She pressed him on how many civilian casualties he would tolerate, what victory looks like, who is to blame for the civilian casualties , why he’s opposed to a ceasefire, how patients are supposed to get ouy of al shaifa hospital. and what governance of the West Bank and Gaza would look like after the war.
I think Bibi was lying through his teeth But truth is lost in tyhe fog of war.
Website. Slow response. This is a terrible “upgrade”.
Favicon is gone.
