  1. No more calls, please. We have a winner …..

Trump endorses Jim Jordan as next House speaker – POLITICO

But who will take over as Judiciary chair, Impeacher in Chief, and chair of the Weaponization of the Federal Government subcommittee?

And what becomes of Scalise? If he doesn't have the votes for speaker, will they smell blood in the water and move to remove him as majority leader (like they did to Liz Cheney as caucus chair)?

In fact, will all of the leadership positions be reopened? New rules and new committee assignments?

Last Tuesday night set an interesting precedent.

  2. So, Gaetz nominated Jordan.  Trump endorses Jordan.

Steve Scalise announced he will run.

and "Rep. Kevin Hern, the leader of the Republican Study Committee, … who is not currently in GOP leadership … is seen as maybe a Goldilocks option between conservative firebrand Rep. Jim Jordan and Majority Leader Steve Scalise."

Several people said there is no clear choice among the Republican Conference, and to get one by next week's meeting would take Divine intervention.

    1. Ah, a menage a trois of wing nuts.

Rumor has it that McCarthy is planning on extracting his revenge on Scalise.

McCarthy allies quietly undercut Scalise's speaker bid (axios.com)

It makes sense. Although he has no great love for Jordan's fellow travelers in the Free Dumb Caucus, Jordan was loyal to McCarthy last January and helped him win the gavel.

Maybe My Kevin has decided to try something different. Maybe he's decided to try standing by those who came through for him in the past.

      1. That link is a fascinating read. The parallels are too close for comfort. Well…their comfort. I'm very comfortable watching Williams actually putting it in process. Then again, I'm a malicious prick so………….nom nom nom nom away Davy, nom away.

  3. The GOP caucus-primary system is a crock of manure. When I last attended my local GOP precinct caucus maybe 10 years ago, there was no discussion on candidates or ballot resolutions. The decisions had already been made by the party higher-ups. All we got to do was write checks if one wanted to attend the JeffCo county convention. I don’t recall any delegate positions being available for the state convention.

    1. 31 years ago, I went to my first Dem caucus, county, and state assembles.

I remember hearing what I presumed was a nasty rumor that the GOP charged an admission fee for those attending their caucuses and assemblies.

      So, it was true, CHB?
