  1. The latest in Republican intra-party revolt —

CPR: Colorado GOP files lawsuit to close its primary elections and block unaffiliated voters from participating

The lawsuit is part of a multi-prong effort to change how the Colorado GOP nominates its candidates.

This Saturday Republican party members are meeting to deliberate changing the rules to make it easier to opt-out of the primary, including counting an absent vote as an automatic “yes” vote for the opt-out.

New state party chair Dave Williams is spearheading the effort. He made it a central part of his campaign as chair. But the party is deeply divided on those potential rule changes and the issue of opting out.

Many Republicans believe including unaffiliated voters in the primary is a good thing, because it gets the GOP candidate's name before more voters and requires those running for office to appeal to a broader swath of the electorate.

    1. Williams, and the Colorado GOP, would have been much better off if he'd have just stuck with not showing up for his day job as a legislative aide.

But, as a progressive, all I can say is: Heckuva job, Davey! Stay the course!

    2. Dave Williams doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. " The establishment" pays the Republican parties bills! The mouth breathers in the red hats may support him but the big, significant, sane, well-monied part of their former support base has no confidence and will stay away until the nuttery is over. Going to be interesting to watch, and it couldn't happen to a better guy…

      1. As one of the few registered Rs hanging around Pols, I have a more pragmatic thought.

How are Williams’ antics and theatrics going to attract new members, especially younger voters, to the Party? The Party already has much of the Boomer vote, at least from those who apparently have trouble seeing through all the Trump and company con jobs.

  2. Dr. William B. Allen, one of the primary architects of Florida's new "enslaved people learned valuable skills while enslaved" curriculum, is a former visiting scholar at the CU Institute of Conservative Thought and Policy. Probably won't get indicted, but is he worse than John Eastman? This "institute" is a blight on a fine university.
