Regent Ludwig, Reluctant Fake Cowboy

  • by: ProgressiveCowgirl

Incumbent Regent Stephen Ludwig, despite having beaten his 2012 opponent once already, has a challenging race to run. Not only does most of the electorate have no idea what a regent does, it’s a statewide race. According to The Westword, Ludwig is currently working on an ambitious tour of Colorado’s 64 counties in ten days.

Fortunately, the grind hasn’t affected Ludwig’s sense of humor:

I’m Progressive Cowgirl, and, having seen one too many politicians sporting brand-new cowboy boots at the start of election season, I approve of this message.

    1. Still wanting to talk about my use of “entitlements!”  And maybe your family’s!  Surely, you wouldn’t be running away from me, are you?

  1. His opponent this time around just turned 18 this month.

This is the first election cycle that he has been old enough to vote, let alone run for office.

    1. One person is elected from each of Colorado’s congressional districts, and two represent the state as a whole. Ludwig is running for his second term as one of those at-large regents against the Republican candidate, Brian Davidson, whom he beat last time.

      1. He runs a campaign, after a fashion,

doesn’t play to win but rather so he can tell his golf buddies that he’s in politics.

Of course, I like that you look to WestWord for your political reporting,

but the SOS website lists who the REAL opponent is this time around.

Tyler is a Senior in High School, and will be the first person to ever enroll as a Freshman at CU while serving as a Regent, which will happen next Fall.

He doesn’t make a very good angry old white man, but he’s a terrific modern conservative.

        1. All opponents should be mentioned if any are — I would think an alternative newspaper would be a bit more welcoming to alternative parties.

Looks like there’s a Lib in the race, too.

Why doesn’t your guy have a website? At 18, he’s the right age for there really to be no excuse not to put up a campaign website. He could do it in under an hour.
