UPDATE #2: Live from Vail:

UPDATE: Via Sen. John Hickenlooper, a Colorado fashion shot if there ever was one:
Rep. Joe Neguse is the most Colorado dressed of the bunch, with Hickenlooper in second and Sen. Michael Bennet coming in a bookish but respectable third. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack gets it totally wrong without a trace of denim or corduroy, and Gov. Jared Polis has, no surprise here, the flashiest shoes.

As Denver7 reports, Biden will speak in Colorado about designating the Camp Hale/ Continental Divide National Monument — his first such national monument designation as President:
Biden signed a proclamation Wednesday designating Camp Hale and the area of the Continental Divide that surrounds it as a national monument, and his administration moved to protect 225,000 acres of the Thompson Divide from mining and oil and gas production…
…Wednesday’s proclamation has been expected since last week, when sources first confirmed Biden would be making Camp Hale – where soldiers trained to fight in the Alps during WWII – a national monument.
The moves announced Wednesday include designating 53,804 acres including Camp Hale and the surrounding Tenmile Range as a national monument that will be managed by the U.S. Forest Service, which will develop a plan to protect and manage the land and the historical significance of the area, the White House said.

Great news, and thank you Senator Bennet for your role in creating this national monument. My great-uncle Harry trained there (along with one of his best friends from Laird, CO) and then spent his time in Italy. He came back a changed man, never to be the same again.
Such a relief to see these politicians celebrating wilderness without needing to be polite to Boebert in their midst like an evil, grinning gremlin.
Great choice for a national monument. Coupled with Amache internment camp becoming a national historic site, Colorado is saving part of the history of the 20th century. Let's go Joe and Mike and John and Jared.
I did a ski trip to Fowler/Hilliard a long time ago. Beautiful hut is part of the 10th Mountain Division Hut system. Wonderful country for sure.
We try to ski at smaller places, so we are heading up to Cooper and staying in Leadville late December and we always stop by at Hale and walk around and check it out. Beautiful area.
Oh, and the stupidity of Bobo – never mind the roughly 12 million acres of unused O&G leases all over America, we have to drill at Camp Hale now!
It’s amazing property to hike around. I’m looking forward to signage and other improvements.
Btw, the Secret Service didn’t enjoy this trip. It’s Colorado, it’s hunting season and the president flew into a mountain airport.
Ignore the people in front — the plane is dressed in a soothing light blue with a formal (?) white to show off the super nice blue Colorado shy and hills. That is some nice advertising for Colorado.
