      1. Happy day to you, DavidThi … hope you will be able to celebrate in fine style to kick off the next trip around the sun.

And as today’s Cheers & Jeers on DKos points out:

“Fighting aging is like the War on Drugs. It’s expensive, does more harm than good, and has been proven to never end.”
        —Amy Poehler

      2. Happy Birthday, David! Sorry this is so late. My laptop up and died overnight and we’re just now getting the new one set up . Here’s your last birthday cake of the day. 🎂

  1. As if we needed any more proof that #WhiteProsperityJesus exists…

MyPillow exec Lindell says he prayed for Warnock, Ossoff victories to prove ‘election crime’

Lindell on Saturday said Democrats would have been “smart” to win only one of the two Georgia seats, because some Republicans may have backed off their unsubstantiated belief of fraud since the party would have retained control of the Senate, moving their focus to win in 2022.

“I’m a marketer, and I’m going, ‘If I was working for that evil, I would say give them back one of these senators so they shut up about the election,’” he said.

    1. I see Lindell kind of the same way I see Alex Jones. You can't discount them for being off their rocker because they still can and do cause irreparable harm to people.

        1. I know the feeling. I have a lot of lifelong friends that are die hard Trumpers. I would do anything for them but when the conversation turns to politics, I feel like I'm going to blow a gasket.

          1. I didn’t say *I* was losing any sleep over his fortune (or lack thereof). He’s going to need a #MyPaddedCell by the time the DOJ is done with him and his west slope girlfriend.

  2. Kudos to the folks in Cuba for voting to legalize same sex marriage yesterday!

smiley    Now the (Extreme) Right Reverend Rafael Eduardo Cruz, Sr. can never go home.   wink

  3. Today's good news is that Casa Bonita has 29 staff members that just finished a free 16-week language program prior to the re-opening. If their native language is English, they were taught Spanish, if their native language is Spanish, they were taught English, all in an effort to close the language barrier.

This after saving the restaurant, hiring James Beard nominated executive chef Dana Rodriguez, and giving the whole place a massive face lift – Trey Parker and Matt Stone are on a roll.

    How freaking cool is that?

Those South Park boys are doin' it right IMHO.

    1. I hate to see what all of this is going to do to the prices!

I've always considered it a place where you went for the "atmosphere" more than the food, but at least the food was affordable.

    2. "close the language barrier……" Maybe.

In the past 10 years, I've spent extended time in Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and some limited time in Paraguay and Uruguay. My rudimentary Spanish generally worked OK. However, most young people didn't want to hear my Spanish. They wanted to practice their English.

      1. I have run into that myself, especially in Japan and Romania, with locals wanting to speak English instead of their native language. Good on you CHB for making the effort though.

  4. So, Edward Snowden became a Russian citizen today. And tomorrow he should receive his draft notice after which he will receive his ticket to Kharkiv.
