  1. It could happen  …..  there is an AP News story today about crossover voting making a difference in some contests.

Some Democrats voting in GOP contests to block Trump picks

[Brad Raffensperger], the Republican secretary of state cleared the 50% threshold required to avoid a runoff election by just over 27,000 votes, according to the latest AP tallies. Based on early voting data alone, 37,144 former Democrats voted in the Republican primary. The total number of crossovers including Election Day votes, set to be revealed in the coming weeks, may be even higher. …

[Rep. Adam] Kinzinger’s team was also active in North Carolina’s closely watched congressional race in North Carolina’s 11th District, where voters ousted the polarizing pro-Trump freshman Rep. Madison Cawthorn in the Republican primary.

As was the case in Georgia, the AP found a sizable percentage of Republican early ballots were cast by voters who participated in the Democratic primary two years ago. Specifically, more than 14% of the 38,000 early or absentee votes cast in the Cawthorn race — more than 5,400 voters — came from a Democratic 2020 primary voter.

Cawthorn lost his primary by fewer than 1,500 votes.

  2. R.I.P. Alan White, 1949-May, 2022

He was the drummer for the progressive rock group, Yes, from 1972 until the time of his death.

    1. I've always been a big fan of Bill Bruford's drumming, but White was a much better fit for the stuff Yes did from 1972 on. Tributes from present and former Yes men are available here.

White had severe back problems that limited his on-stage time in recent years, but I'll never forget the spectacular show he and bandmates Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe and Patrick Moraz gave 80,000 maniacs at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium long about 1975. Rest in power.

      1. One thing I haven't seen mentioned about Yes, Genghis, is that they always seemed to get along with each other. Even when Yes was on hiatus and members were doing other things (like the supergroup Asia; or Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman more recently), the focus always has been on the group rather than individual egos.

    1. We can expect all those Republicans in Congress who complained about "political prosecutions" when Robert Mueller was actually GETTING convictions to chime in about "a waste of money" …. amiright?
