At Least He’s Not Your Sheriff

Arizona Sheriff Joe “Asshat” Arpaio is at it again. Seems like a really good use of taxpayer money, don’t it? From CBS News:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, announced Thursday that his six-month investigation had found that “probable cause exists indicating that forgery and fraud may have been committed” in the release of President Obama’s long-form birth certificate.

The publicity-hungry Arpaio, a strong opponent of illegal immigration who calls himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” said the evidence gathered by his investigators suggests Mr. Obama’s birth certificate and selective service registration card are fakes…

…The 79-year-old Arpaio, who has been accused by the Justice Department of racial profiling and who is being probed by a federal grand jury over potential abuse of power, said he told his investigators to examine the president’s documents with “no preconceived notions,” adding that he “felt that this investigation could clear President Obama’s name and put people’s minds at ease.”

Arpaio became Maricopa County sheriff in 1993, and has been elected five times. He said the investigation, undertaken by his five-member volunteer “Cold Case Posse” at the request of an Arizona Tea Party group, did not involve any cost to taxpayers.

So how exactly does a 6-MONTH INVESTIGATION not involve taxpayer money if Arpaio “directed his investigators” to work on the issue? Is he admitting, then, that he requires investigators to do his bidding off the clock?

Give it up, Arpaio. It’s a dead issue.

I’ve detected nascent thought out of you lately.  Like real stuff that isn’t beamed into your brain by the Hive via that implant.

      Appreciate the post actually.

      • Aristotle says:

Arpaio is becoming toxic, and the main GOP is embarrassed by the conspiracy nuts at this point since they are no longer damaging. I would only take this the way you do if it came out a) before Arpaio’s recent scandal and b) if the birth certificate thing still had any legs.

    • It’s not often I get to say that, but thanks.

This is a really, really dumb issue.  I think Arpaio did this in part to stoke up the conspiracy fires so that when the DOJ finally brings him up on charges he can say they’re just out to get him because of Obama.  The man is a no-good, corrupt weasel using an issue that’s been beaten to death so thoroughly that it no longer makes even an unsatsifying squishy sound.

You need to quote World Nut Daily.

The Cold Case Posse advised Arpaio that they believe forgers committed two crimes. First, they say it appears the White House fraudulently created a forgery that it characterized as an officially produced governmental birth record. Second, the White House fraudulently presented to the residents of Maricopa County and to the American public at large a forgery represented as “proof positive” of President Obama’s authentic 1961 Hawaii long-form birth certificate.

“A continuing investigation is needed to identify the identity of the person or persons involved in creating the alleged birth certificate forgery and to determine who, if anyone, in the White House or the state of Hawaii may have authorized the forgery,” Arpaio said.

Among the evidence released at the press conference are five videos – which can be seen at the end of this article – to demonstrate why the Obama long-form birth certificate is suspected to be a computer-generated forgery.

      Don’t make a right.

Isn’t it obvious that Democrats want this in the news more than any Republican?

      • ajb says:

Arpaio and his “cold case posse” just love the attention.

If a demonstration that the further right you go, the nuttier you get helps Dems, well, so be it. Maybe your man Romney should have a talk with his billionaire buddies that fund the far-right wing of the GOP and tell them it’s not helping.

      • Ralphie says:

They would have conducted a phony investigation their damned selves.

Without Arpaio, there would be no need to do that.  Actually, there was no need to do that anyway.  Arpaio is just the comic relief.  Not to mention the raison d’être of KKKers everywhere.

Sorry, that was damned near French.

Arapahole, you’re becoming a caricature of your already cartoonish self.

I know I have said that before, but at my age we tend to repeat ourselves.  Until, of course, there is no reason to do so.

This isn’t a murder case. How do you “continually investigate” a piece of paper?

  3. Pita says:

He’s the one that needs to be investigated…for mental disability.

    • Diogenesdemar says:

to being a Republican; let’s just take him at his word.  Is further investigation really necessary?  Haven’t the good citizens of Maricopa County already paid enough because of this fool?
