    1. This ad makes him look (more) like a douche. It quotes a debate answer that wasn’t all that good to begin with, although the text is much better. And most of the ad features his voice unsynchronized with his lips, which is annoying. And the music is really overdramatic for what he’s actually saying. It just feels like three ads in one because he doesn’t have the money to run separate ads.

Traditionally I think New Hampshire voters respect people who take less popular positions, but not when they do it just to get attention (or, like Huntsman, retract their statements when they’re too unpopular).

And people really underestimate how much his “I worked with Democrats, then stabbed them in the back to beat them” schtick makes people unhappy. Even RedState people (to whom the end justifies any means) think this kind of disloyalty and betrayal is bad.

    2. ..esp with type all over his face while he makes his points.

This might work for The Aaahnold, it just doesn’t fit the brand that Huntsman is trying to build for himself.

It smacks of some consultant getting way too much money to make the spot….

  1. ….I’m digging the Weds regular Ken Rudin and the discussion that follows.

But this nugget from acaller has to be the quote to label the GOP primary by:

So really I’m a young conservative and just right of center, though. I feel like this race is, if anything, making me more of a moderate. Because the choices in front of us, if you’re a GOP voter, basically we have a bunch of guys leapfrogging out of a clown car. I mean, they’re terrible.

    1. it was a bit of a bizarre segment of the show.  Ron Paul’s campaigner had OD’d on the kool-aid and was a little too rosy for reality.

But the caller did give voice to the overall malaise & discontent of the moderate conservatives and demonstrated that there are likley more crossover moderates & indies that could sit out ’12 or move Dem depending on state races & issues.

  2. We’re running The International Collegiate Programming Championships – All the excitement of March Madness, without the sweat!

MIT told us they have over 100 students signed up and Purdue just sent an email saying they’re at 75, and expect more. I also figure we’ll have pretty much every top C.S. school signed up in another week – I got a call from a professor at one today who told me the department chair called him up and told him to get registered immediately and that they will have teams participating 🙂

And the reason I did this? Because my daughter wanted me to put on a code war at Mudd. And I figured for all the work required to create the challenge, I might as well invite the other top schools.

  3. Libraries’ use continues to soar

Two-year-old Alden Meyer of Fruita points to a globe of the world he wants his mother Tina to get for him in the children’s area of the Fruita branch of the Mesa County Public Library on Wednesday.

    By Mike Wiggins

The Mesa County Public Library District set another circulation record in 2011, thanks to a combination of opening a new branch, exponentially expanding the lineup of available materials and…

      1. I am willing to wager the price of a dinner that in 10 years libraries will still be checking out more physical books than ebooks and more physical objects like CDs, movies, etc.. than e-versions and they will have higher total circulation than they do now. I think ebooks will make a more substantial part of their circulation, but that mostly it will be a phenomenon of people with money to burn than ordinary library patrons.
