But for one lucky song, he would have been just another guy making a living doing music. Nothing wrong with that, really, I’ve never been able to do it.
He was a writer/producer for Mercury Records, with only one hit under his belt, “Green Tambourine,” recorded by the Lemon Pipers.
Then one night he and a couple of session musicians from Mercury recorded a song that has become an anthem of derision sung by sports fan everywhere. If the Cards win tonight, you’ll here the Busch Stadium fans singing it for the Rangers.
The song was credited to a band called “Steam,” but there was no band called “Steam” when the song was recorded. Steam was put together to go on tour and support the song when it became a hit.
The songwriter’s name was Paul Leka, and he died October 12 of lung cancer at age 68.
Let’s wish him Na Na, Hey Hey, Goodbye.
Cardinals fans don’t gloat.
And also a really, really good recipe for tofu pad thai.
From back in the days before bathrooms became so dangerous.
Nervous about elections? Don’t understand why, is anything going to change?
but I’ll settle for the Koch brothers…
just how much I love this video.
but elections always make me think of this song, sadly. Still, we need to vote.
