    1. Dems definitely need to take this candidacy seriously, if only because I sense editorial boards saying "we have to endorse at least one Republican to appear fair and balanced, and she's sane."

      1. Dems definitely need to take this candidacy seriously

Too right. Considering Griswold is the only Dem to win a Colorado SoS election since 1958, a non-insane Republican is a serious threat indeed.

            1. Aww, Grandpa, you're out of bed so late!  Did you take a baby boomer in your diapy?  How embarrassing!  Head on back to bed, champ, I'll tell the night nurse.

Don't let the bedbugs bite, pappy!

Boy, I wish he wouldn't throw a tantrum when we bring up assisted living….

                1. Terribly sorry that was so ugly. I honestly didn’t anticipate such groupthink and lore among the senior (in rank) writers, but the mob finally got bored and went for actual trolls.

I think the comments are much more pleasant without that guy being a persistent bully. Perhaps it will be more inviting to discussion. came here to learn from others and hopefully contribute in turn.

    2. Reprinted by request

Our latest racist/sexist/ageist troll, the former Gudolph, has requested that I reprint the song I wrote about him when he smeared his Boebertry across our blog yesterday.  The song, to the tune of “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” prompted him to change his screen name to the more accurate one I dubbed him: Stonerbabbleguy.”

He also copied my avatar, Oscar the Platypus, in hopes he could mislead Polsters into reading this comments, which he admits are far more lucid and popular than his own eructations.

So, in case you missed it, here’s:

      Gudolph the Red-Faced Stoner

      Babbled when he spoke.

And if you tried to read it

It was a really bad joke.

      All of the other Stoners

Used to laugh and call him names

      They never let poor Gudolph

      Carouse in their stoner games.

      Then one foggy four twenty

      A legislator came to say

Gudolph has smoked so much THC

He can’t communicate with the likes of we.

      That really hacked off Gudolph

      And he babbled most ferociously:

“I don’t need no steekin’ doctor

Diagnosing what is wrong with me!”

      1. "I don't need no steekin' doctor
Diagnosing what is wrong with me!"

YES, THAT'S WHAT I SAY GRANDPA!

*sniff* poor guy. So much confusion and anger in that nutty head of his. Too bad he gets his diapers in a twist over men in panties, he's not always such a two-faced bigot wink kiss

YOU SOUND LIKE TOM LEHRER, GRANDPA!

        1. Ageism, also spelled agism, is stereotyping and/or discrimination against individuals or groups on the basis of their age. This may be casual or systemic.[1][2] The term was coined in 1969 by Robert Neil Butler to describe discrimination against seniors, and patterned on sexism and racism.[3] Butler defined "ageism" as a combination of three connected elements. Originally it was identified chiefly towards older people, old age, and the aging process; discriminatory practices against older people; and institutional practices and policies that perpetuate stereotypes about elderly people.[4]

          1. Aww, it’s okay, Grandpa.  Don’t take it too personally.  It’s not JUST who you are, it’s how outdated and decrepit you’re getting and how much harm the trash attitude and behavior you have has caused.

Shhhhh.  It’s okay.  The live-in nurse will be here to check on you soon and make sure you have a clean diaper for beddy bye!  Be nice to her, she isn’t as understanding as me, and won’t have as much patience for your arrested development as I.

              1. Show me where I was racist?

Show me where I was sexist?

Some people your age (well, not many people are YOUR age, let’s be real) are cool people.  Generally, I find the college educated ones are.  The ones who aren’t “has-beens.”

                My mendacity is nonexistent.

I’m doing peachy 🙂 Well, mandarin-y I guess.  It’s a bit late in the season for stone fruit (oh, was that a pun V? You decide!)

                1. Your attacks on Dr. Caraveo are racist and sexist.

Your attacks on kwtree are sexist.

Your attacks on me are ageist.

Your mendacity is hard-wired and you now even lie about your efforts at identity theft.

Well, goodnight, racist/sexist/ageist/liar.  You can have the last 3,000 words, which are sure to be as racist/sexist/ageist and mendacious as the first 30,000.

Have a shitty night, Trump Breathdevil

                  1. Bwahaha.  Grandpa dumb dumb has nothing and got too sleepy to face his loss! Keep up or shut up, grandpa!

Try not to think about embolisms while falling asleep!  It’s really not THAT likely that a crotchety fart like you would really have to worry about that, after all.

                    ‘Night!

Wait, you know what Trump’s breath smells like? How can you know without tasting? :0

                    1. Thanks for not denying your racism and sexism.  Ageism is just as vicious.  Do you think you deserve credit for choosing your time of birth, imbecile?

                    2. Why deny what there is no trace of in the first place?

Voyageur can’t keep his word and go to bed.  Night nurse may have to take his electric blanket!

So keeping tabs, Voyageur is wrong about me being racist, wrong about me being sexist, wrongly crying like a baby that someone pretended to be him when literally no one did, wrongly accused a stranger of illegal activity, sex-shamed, slut-shamed, fetish-shamed, vice-shamed, orphan-shamed, bullied, and LIED, LIED LIED.

Oh, and is also apparently a proponent of the racist pseudoscience of phrenology. That explains why he was so eager to falsely accuse others of racism!

GRANDPA, EUGENICS IS WRONG, MORALLY AND SCIENTIFICALLY. LEAVE YOUR CRANIOMETER IN THE BIN WITH YOUR DIRTY OLD MAN DIAPERS.

So, what were we saying about banning unsavory people for bad behavior again?

        1. Please note the above post is by Imposter Gudolph, who tried to steal my identity by spelling Voyageur as a transposed Voyaguer.  He does this periodically.  Don’t be fooled by this racist/sexist/ageist methhead.

Identity theft is a bannable offense.

          1. Not true! I was quoting you verbatim in tribute!

You almost had me there, gramps 😉

              1. Outrageous! I demand trial by combat! I have never uttered or printed one word under your name!

I will gladly accept proof to the contrary. If not, then I will have honor from you at dawn.  After the nurse cleans your dirty old man britches, of course.

                  1. I never knew my mom, actually, she died of alcohol poisoning thanks for bringing that up.

                    1. Oh no! I fibbed!  Mom says "hi" by the way and that she is surprised at people your age talking like this. She just baked me some brownies and stopped by to visit!

Anyway, have a good night! Maybe your family will call and you can talk to a human who isn't your night nurse. 🙂

  1. Anderson was not a bad election clerk. As I recall, she stood against some of Gessler's overreach. She oversaw efficient mail ballot elections, and didn't politicize it.

Is Anderson that holy grail CHB's been searching for, a "moderate Republican"?  She's not promoting the Big Lie, at least, although she's criticizing incumbent Griswold for being "hyperpartisan".

    1. The two-party system is still important and I welcome any sign that the Republican Party is retreating from the Trump cess pool.  But Jena is doing a fine job and I'll go on sending her a few bucks in support.

          1. If only there were other numbers besides one and two.

"Twone," maybe. I don't know. It just seems weird we only have two and one, doesn't it?

            1. The fear is if two becomes three (or more) that could lead to a dilution or weakening of the two. Which is, inevitably, true.

Ask Al Gore 2000  Florida voters (Ralph Nader) HRC 2016  voters in PA or WI (Jill Stein). Or Woodrow Wilson.

Better to have two and allow the bad one seasonal victories then allow 3 or more.

              1. Yep, splintering into smaller factions tends to involve creative destruction.

The Rep/Dem parties are split already in everything but party line, and have the privilege of being on every state's ballot. If a third party, or any party enjoyed that kind of free publicity, let alone the portrayal of it as a tricameral race by the media, that party would stand to clean house.

And there is lots to be said about simply acknowledging the parliamentary nature of congress and the two-party system that votes on legislation entirely on the basis of confidence in the leader. If we could do that much then having "parties" doesn't matter as much as having a majority within the group seeking to put policy in place.

Campaign finance regulation and abolishing the electoral college in favor of ranked choice voting would do away with "spoiled" vote arguments.

      1. The Colorado Sun, in a pre-announcement interview, asked her about Peters.  She said she was "extremely disappointed" in Peters and then in some logic I didn't quite follow said that was one of the reasons she was getting in.  I didn't hear George ask her about it, unless it while I was running the coffee grinder.

          1. "Maybe she thinks she can do a better job reining in renegades like Peters"

Nothing short of duct tape and chloroform will reign in renegades like Peters.

    2. What "Holy Grail?" I will kindly suggest that you refer to the 2021 state legislative scorecard from Conservation Colorado; particularly the state senate.

These are, mostly, my issues for environmental protection. A good Republican vote is north of 35%. Bob Rankin and Cleve Simpson were both over 50%. Kevin Priola scored 93%!

      1. Priola might be a damn good GOP candidate for that new congressional seat (assuming there aren't enough Trumper crazies in that district to derail a campaign before it ever gets off the ground).

    3. "Is Anderson that holy grail CHB's been searching for, a "moderate Republican"?

Perhaps but whether she is or is not is immaterial. She will be perceived as a RINO and tossed under the bus by the True Believers in the MAGA Cult.

      1. the Colorado Sun article includes:

Anderson said she sees no evidence to suggest the race was stolen or rife with fraud. She said Colorado’s election processes are safe and secure and that people should have trust in them.

“I believe that this was the safest and most secure election we’ve ever had in our country,” she said, though she thinks there can be an expansion of quality assurance checks in some areas of Colorado’s election system…

“I think citizen access to their constitutional right to vote is fundamental. We have to protect that access, as well as the security and accuracy of the vote.”

It will be interesting to see Colorado Republicans are willing to back someone who wants citizens to vote.

        1. Hmm, that is certainly a conundrum for today’s GOP!  Theocratic Dictatorships are so much more appealing for them.  Winnowing down the voter pool to just those that agree is a long, hard slog.  But Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are doing their best to speed that day coming.

    1. Really interesting! Thanks, davebarnes.  Sorry you get so much flak from the remedial school dropouts elephant walking through the comments each day.

      Keep up the good work!

(Also, I mean this sincerely, Oscar the Platypus secretly loves it too)

          1. Yeah, you caroused in your pants, again.

Are you still wearing your mom’s underwear, or did the thrill wear off?

            Tee hee.

Just so you know, we’re all laughing at you, not with you.

            And you’re still Gudolph!

            Tee hee.

            1. YES GRANDPA, IT’S ME GUDOLPH! He’s having a lucid moment.

He’s embarrassed hes back in diapers like a baby. Calling normal, continent people’s underwear lingerie seems to help as an outlet for his transphobia.

As if he could even be more embarrassing!

              1. You admitted it, you do wear your mother’s underwear!

Hell, kid, cheap thrills are wear you find them.(pun intended.)/p>

But your ageism is just another manifestation of your racism, that you showed as the real reason you hate Rep. Car aveo.

                And you’re still Gudolph!

Want me to post the poem again?

                Tee hee, I win again.

Racism, ageism, sexism and SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS.

                I win!

                1. And he’s gone again 🙁

                  What a cruel world.

                  SING YOUR SONG GRANDPA!

He switches out a couple proper* nouns and suddenly he thinks he’s Weird Al.

THAT’S A VERY CLEVER AND ORIGINAL JOKE GRANDPA

                2. Ageism ???

. . . I dunno'.  I mean toddlers of all ages who lack the faculties for control wear diapers.

All the platypus guy has to go on is what you've written . . .

. . . I can see how someone new here could be confused as to someone's actual age.

                    1. Thanks, Stonebabbleguy . . .

. . . oh shit?!  You really should consider changing that avatar to something more appropriate, guy of somewhere between 3 and 300, . . .

                      Maybe . . .

. . . I have a feeling that you look really good in earflaps really suit you?!?

                    2. Grandpa, if you don't play nicely we'll have to take away your TV time! Is that what you want?

Now apologize to the nice person! Here, why don't you sing that song you "wrote" about me again? That seemed to keep you busy.

                    3. Oh, racist/sexist/ageist/stonerguy,

I don’t want to make you late for your Proud Boys meeting.

                      Tee hee.

                    4. Boyz II Men? Super proud for 'em. Do you not like R&B?

I think in your day they used to call them "N-word" "spirituals," but only really malicious, stupid people say those sorts of things. I mean, you say malicious and stupid things, but you're not malicious and stupid.  Just demented!

(Do you guys think he believes it? I can't tell if it's consternation on his face or if he's straining shitting his britches again).

                    5. Oh, Racist/sexist/ageist/stonerboy,

it’s the,Mexicans your Proud Boys hate, ain’t, it.  Especially them uppity Latinas who dare to be doctors, while you flunked chemistry your sophomore year.

Boy are you dumb, racist, sexist, ageist, wears yourmother’sunderwearboy!

                    1. “Diodes” are semiconducting tools, you silly old goof!

No one would mistake your big stinky old person’s diaper for a three year old’s! No! Old man Stink from Voyageur tells people you are coming! A toxic waft of the soiled diaper of a self-proclaimed “has-been” warning the younger people who haven’t yet wasted their life and ended up a lonely sad sack.

Sad, smelly, wrinkly, low swinging OLD MAN sack.

                    2. Grandpa, you need to take a break for a bit. You're all confused.

YOU are the one that struggled with chemistry, remember? I graduated with honors in biochemistry, you silly goof!

Oh the foibles of a spoiled generation demanding to be silver-spoonfed into old age without making meaningful contributions!

                    3. I didn't know Trump University had degrees in biochemistry, racist/sexist/ageist/stoner boy.

                      Tee hee.  You lose again!

                    4. “Diodes only permit current to flow one way, ignorant one.”

Almost like that’s how diodes are instrumental to controlling the conductivity of current, in a “half” way.  A “semi” kind of way. A “semiconductor” kind of way.

Gramps, go to bed. You’re sundowning hard.

    1. Voyageur and human beings alike agree, davebarnes is a great poster! Here's another holiday to celebrate today, V!

HAPPY ZAMBIA INDEPENDENCE DAY! Time to bust out the chitenge patterns and play some Waida!

Zambia flag: its meaning, history and design – Lonely Planet

  2. Another real, live case of voter fraud. This one’s from New York. Betcha can’t guess his party affiliation. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/23/us/voter-fraud-nevada.html

  3. Good morning…

A particularly slimy and onerous troll showed up yesterday and fouled the thread. Might be best if we (you too, V.) refrain from feeding it.

    Have a lovely day!

    1. Duke, as usual, is precisely correct.  The interdict is on — starve the troll.  And look at avatars and user names especially closely.  This troll specializes in identity theft, trying to palm off a phoney VoyagUEr and stolen avatar as my VoyagEUr for example.

Don’t be fooled. And don’t feed the troll.

      1. Grandpa, you know better than to fib :P. Did you sleep okay?  You remember waking up in the middle of the night with your old man tiny bladder? Haha, if you can't take what you dish out anymore and quit…. what's that called again? Oh yeah, a LOSER.

You, GRANDPA VOYAGEUR, are a LOSER

But yes, by all means, "refrain from feeding" or whatever you want to call your asshole cold welcome.  Continue to do so thereafter, the forum would be a much more splendid place if you all chose to act like humans.

    2. Oooh, D. Cocks comes out swinging with a low-key "wah wah wah."

What? Isn't it all fun and games? Are you not enjoying this level of discourse?

Btw, which one of these guys are you, D?

Super brave followers of the Duke.

Are we not having "fun" ?

  4. Colorado Sun’s Thy Vo has an excellent article on a lawsuit against provisions of the HB 1317 bill.
Yesterday’s “discussion” by the troll complained about provisions in early versions of the bill, most of which were discarded. Thy Vo’s aricle lays out which parts of the signed bill may actually be implemented.

The bill still funds a research study on ER admissions with cardio, psych, and vomiting symptoms resulting from overconsumption of cannabis edibles. I support that research.

Some of the provisions of the bill will probably be found unconstitutional, as they amend Amendment 64, which was passed overwhelmingly by Colorado voters. Lawsuits are progressing, and should be watched, as the Sun article explains.

    1. An excellent piece.  Many legal drugs must be carefully controlled.  I use warfarin to ward off blood clots and strokes.  Too much of it can kill you and thus it must be closely monitored.

Marijuana does seem to have some medical benefits but obviously can be harmful taken in excess or in interaction with other drugs. Just like I can’t take normally benign aspirin because in combination with warfarin it can cause internal bleeding.

I argued for legalized marijuana decades before we adopted Amendment 64.  But the strongest argument in favor of legalization is that a legal drug can be regulated and controlled — an illegal one cannot.

Most, if not all, of 1317 should pass legal muster.  Federal law trumps a state constitution.

Rep. Caraveo deserves credit for her good faith efforts. It’s early and I want to see who else may run, but she looks like a possible Congresswoman to me.

      1. I’d like to hear what Mike Bowman and Whiskey Lima Juliet have to say about effects, if any, this bill will have on their cannabis-related businesses.

Also, Duke, you’re a consumer of cannabis- will the provisions of 1317 be a hardship for you at all?

        1. Kw, Mike grows hemp, not pot.  There is virtually no thc in it and you could smoke it all day with nothing but asthma to show for it. There should be no effect from 1317 on the hemp trade.  Like you, I'd like to hear the Whiskey Lady give the viewpoint of legal sellers of the hard stuff.

          1. I know, but CBD ( which is the < 3%  THC cannabis I personally consume) is often sold in the same shops. I wonder if Mike thinks there will be a chilling effect on pot shops if the concentrate gram limits are allowed to go through ( supposed to happen in January 2022).

            1. A valid question.  I'd also like to ask him if there has been any progress on use of hemp based capacitors for storage of electricity.  That has the potential to make wind/solar a 24/7 power source at vastly lower cost than current battery systems.

              Amazing guy, Mike.

          2. “There should be no effect from 1317 on the hemp trade.”

Debatable, but I will leave it to industry experts to determine whether there may be repercussions.

Arguably HB 1301, seeking to regulate outdoor cannabis cultivation included language making illegal products containing “intoxicating cannabinoids” which covered ∆-8, ∆-9, and ∆-10. “Industrial hemp products” such as what Mike apparently works with and what kwtree likes to smoke, includes any “cannabis product intended for human consumption” containing no more than 3/10s of 1% (0.003) ∆-9 THC.

Well, guess kwtree is gonna have to be called a dopefiend as well. :/ She’s smoking up that dank stuff 10 times as potent as non-recreational pot!  Dang, girl!

How do you feel about that, Mike? Doesn’t it worry you that in a draft reading of a secondary bill enumerating the rights of Coloradans to grow cannabis plants or any potency language widening the scope of the regulation was slipped in unnoticed? Kind of strange to start adding rules to farming bills that make innocent pot-smoking educators like kwtree into “kitty litter head” stoners. That ain’t right.

Remember the 9th Amendment from my diary post? This is that.

        2. At my age, probably not.

My initial reaction is this seems like a toe in the door by some folks who have vested interests…some with ulterior motives.

I didn't read much in the bill language except boilerplate reporting requirements etc.

The first salient question is: Once established, is this data-sharing network going to be limited and for how long?

The second salient question is: Are they throwing water on smoke? Is teenagers with a script really what this is all about? I get the issue about looping? But I am skeptical about the size and scope of that problem.

          Just my first take.

          1. Teens appear to be popping Percocets, not pot. Opioid abuse has accounted for thousands of deaths in Colorado, 120 last year in Jeffco alone. And to your point, Duke, the tracking database hasn’t done a helluva lot. Deaths are down- so there’s that.

Colorado is deciding how to distribute its share of the opioid abuse settlement funds. I read elsewhere that the average family that lost a loved one to opioid OD will get a whopping $3000 for their loss.

On its face, opioids seem to be a muchmore serious problem.

        3. Good afternoon, all.  I took a few days off for a wedding, some fishing in Minnesota lake country, some pickled Northern Pike made from my grandmother’s recipe – and trying to avoid a lutefisk festival this evening.

A lot to absorb here with the input from the newest member of the community.

I can speak for both WLJ and myself that we didn’t support the bill (for various reasons I’ll discuss tomorrow when I have more time).  I’ve personally encountered far too many initiatives by SMART that are less than credible. Kevin Sabet is a one-trick pony: roll back any and all advances we’ve made on the War on Drugs  People (largely a war on people of color).

              1. What I discovered about Norsky dining in South Dakota: You put butter on everything: the lutefisk, the lefse, the green beans, the mashed potatoes.

Then everything tastes like butter. Except the Rocky Mountain Oysters. Those are just gross.

                1. 🤣🤣 Nothing better than fresh Lefsa right off the griddle (or Rocky Mountain oysters eaten the day of harvest!). You’d think I could handle a little Lutefisk once a year, but that’s a hard NO!

                  1. Not having any Scandinavians in my background, that I know of, I don't know what Lutefisk is, without looking it up.

Sounds like the haggis and blood pudding that is "consumed" in Scotland. I walked the West Highlands Way with friends in 2010 and assiduously avoided those "foodstuffs."

            1. Yeah…that is Janet Rowlands' shtick.

Safety and security of _______( fill in the blank) justifies this blah, blah.

Two million bucks is a lot of money, and as we all know, once that tap is opened by statute it often stays open.

              1. Right? It really riles my feathers too! Of course, this is something of a pet issue of mine as it concerns some people very close to me so I can be a bit of a Simon about things.

I really appreciate seeing more light being shed on this process.

            2. I agree completely! I had written out a diary entry to that effect and was drawing a comparison with the enumerations clause in the bill of rights.

They aren't terribly covert about their goal.  At the hearing they often slipped in prohibitionist language surrounding cannabis, and they began the fight to repeal legalization the week it passed.

Is there a name for deceptive naming like that? Like the "PATRIOT ACT" and so on?

      2. "I argued for legalized marijuana decades before we adopted Amendment 64"

WE KNOW GRAMP GRAMP.  YOU TOLD US ABOUT YOUR WAR ON DRUG STORIES AND YOUR "TIME SPENT AT WEST POINT."

WE ALSO KNOW YOU LIVED DECADES AND DECADES BEFORE NOW. YOUR OLD MAN BO GAVE IT AWAY.

Poor guy! Just can't get his marbles in one bag. The doctors say when the demented, sorry, the "GREATEST GENERATION" start to slip into aggression like that, it's probably just a mild irritation like a hangnail or diaper rash that his old brain doesn't know what to do with.

NO, NOT YOU, GRANDPA. YOU HAVE A SMART BRAIN, SOAKED IN BOOZY KNOWLEDGE.

          1. He is a good man. I’ll never forget those kind words he said to me completely appropriate to the context, he sat me down on his knee, his Old Man BO blanketing the room, he sat me down and he said,

Your attacks on Dr. Caraveo are racist and sexist.

Your attacks on kwtree are sexist.

Your attacks on me are ageist.

Your mendacity is hard-wired and you now even lie about your efforts at identity theft.

Have a shitty night, Trump Breathdevil

Timeless words.  Words of a GOOD man. A RESPECTED man. A man like that doesn’t NEED to be factually correct or honest. He has a reputation that precedes EVERYONE.

Michael will vouch for this man!

      3. "Hello, Doctor? Yes! I'm sorry to call on a Sunday, but Voyag- … Yes!  He is having another lucid moment! He has carried on conversations like some sort of…. well, normal person!"

"What? It won't last for long? He's too far gone at this age, especially if he's taking blood thinners? Yeah. No, that's…. that's not surprising."

        *sniff*

"Well, thanks doc. Yes, I will keep on eye on the aggressiveness.  It tends to rise when he starts to remember how old, out of touch, and lonely it is being a sad, old has-been who treats strangers like TRASH for fun.  Haha, yes! Maybe he is possessed by the Devil, doc! Well Happy Halloween and we'll see you for grampy's next colonoscopy."

"Oh, one more thing! His… smell… the B.O., pee and poo smell? Yeah it's getting stronger.  …. Uh huh. …. Febreeze, Glade, yeah nothing is strong enough to mask it! Oh well.  Buh-bye!"

    2. Hey, consider reading my diary entry written up with more sources and, ahem, "LEGWORK" to walk you through what I see as a problem. Then, you know, we can talk about practicalities and what is or isn't worrisome.

Then you might also see how your saying, "I support research," doesn't really explain the purpose or POTENTIAL backdoor dealings that inspired it in the first place.

Plus, I have multiple sources as opposed to you lot with your "desperately seeking confirmation of what we refuse to take seriously."

Thanks for the "comment" keeping the subject alive.  That's a cut above your degenerate peers that you can (at least here) separate the substance of an idea from its creator. Yes, there are lawsuits going forward.  You barely knew about that though, didn't you? Not until you found something related to the topic you were completely ignorant to were you humbled enough to look at the material arguments objectively.

You are a pot smoking educator who is not following the legislation affecting your rights.  How does that work, btw? Are you a public educator? I imagine most school districts wouldn't be too keen about their children being taught by loser stoners like you and me, kwtree. Maybe you might have some stake in this too?

Anyway, YOU SLIGHTLY LESS DUMB DUMB. Way to do your, ahem, LEGWORK and actually read up on the matter. Next time, wait to shove your head up your ass too far to converse with peers about it and come out lookin' a fool, but alas!

You and your troll friends just engender so much "justified mockery!"

        1. I'm meeting every comment at face value.  The facts have nothing to do with your behavior. You were a prick to me from the get go and too high and mighty to acknowledge that grouping up and bullying with the worst of you (V) doesn't hold up what you preach about just having fun, and teaching people what's what.

I don't NEED your comments.  I welcome them! We should welcome input from everyone, even smelly old timers like V, with an open mind.

Next time someone comes in to talk about an issue you are not well-versed on but have extremely strong opinions about, maybe you will realize that "justified mockery" is never acceptable.

BTW, did you hear the news? 3% is potent! My dude, you are smoking that kind bud in the eyes of the law! "Stoners" unite! Or do you think maybe picking on each other over patriarchal modalities reinforcing human potential as unrealized capital gains such as "stoners" "losers" "grasshopper" "young'un" "ignorant" "naive" and whatever else your pissmoan about could be detrimental to civic engagement? Nonsense. This is Pols, and the Knights are here to say "skrrreeeeeeeee!" and piss on the floor and leave.

      1. Nah.  Sorry . . .

. . . you pretty much burnt your bridges here, my friend.  You’re toast and toxic, now.   (I tried to warn you.)

Your best bet, if you do ever want to engage constructively on this site is surrender this topic (even as much as you may be right), and reemerge as a new persona after a bit (with no hint of your previous self), and try to remain civil and less of a dickish troll than Voyager (he’s literally and figuratively grandfathered in here as the self-appointed one and only exemplar for that).

Given that incredibly low bar, it really shouldn’t be all that difficult; but I can’t say, in your case, that I’ve yet seen any evidence that might inspire some confidence?

There’s a saying about wrestling in the mud with pigs that seems apropos . . .

        1. I’ve been here before.  I’ve left. I’m here now. I might leave.  But can I ever really actually leave? No.

          . . . Yevrahevets???  I didn’t recognize you without your quixotically . . .

. . . Whoever, regardless, I don’t think with your familiarity here you now have any basis to your claim of surprise at your “new guy” reception, or feign any shock at the trajectory this whole shitshow carousal took — especially considering your ample, um, contributions?

          1. It’s not uncommon for diaries to have no comments. That doesn’t mean they aren’t being read and that we aren’t learning  something from them. I’ve written 40+ diaries over the last decade – some get a tepid response, others become full-on engagement with the readers.  Keep writing. There was a lot of good info in your diary, unfortunately your argument is getting lost in your style of communication here on the main Weekend thread.

            1. Between the first election on light rail, which failed 3-2. and the second, which passed 3-2, I wrote 158 articles on the need for transit in The Denver Post.

I was nominated for a Pulitzer for them and while I didn't win the big prize, I did win the election.

Victory in righteous battle is its own reward.

              1. Congrats! Second place is pretty good for an old timer! How many other awards have you won for your professional approach to journalism?

I’m curious, when I submit your delightful articles published on this, a “U.S. online entit(y) .. that gather(s) and disseminate(s) news, opinion and other information…” web site, will there be copyright issues with your rendition of rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, do you think?

I mean, they’ll know it is original journalism, and since you came SO CLOSE last time to winning, I’m betting they’d let it slide.

However, when I put in your sleuthing on the crack case of how you, that famous journalist that you are, LOVE to call people you disagree with racist, agist, sexist, and whatever other lies you leveled- do your readers enjoy transphobic comments like yours – which should I pick? How did they feel about Rowling’s little “larf?” I might just focus on your homophobic (you didn’t deny it) and transphobic (you didn’t deny it) remarks. What about your colleagues? They might be good to reach out to for the submission letter to attest to your journalistic integrity.

Anyway, if you could give me some pointers, that’d be great. I might reach out to your colleague and see what she has to think about your recent crack cases. The application cycle doesn’t open for a couple months yet, so there’s lots of time still to work out the kinks.  But hey, $75 well spent, right?

                GOTTA GET V HIS POO-LITZER.

I hope you grow the fuck up this week, 2nd place Grampy. I really do. That’s not a conditional or anything, I just sincerely wish you would stop being a jackass for no goddam reason.

                <3

  5. Isn't there an option on this site for blocking the appearance of postings by participants whose posting are nonsensical?  Asking for a friend…..

    1. Not really. From what they say, V has been banned a time or two. This is bare bones operation.

Who is speaking nonsense? Were those bullies pretending to be “retarded” (ugh, offensive word, but Voyageur is apparently really into phrenological categories like that, “imbecile,” “idiot,” etc. Really disgusting eugenics stuff)?

It’s a shame.  If only some people could learn to apologize for being dickwads and move on with things like adults. I know I would like to! *sigh*

    2. The Stylish browser extension worked for me for a while. Psuedonymous knows how to configure it. This one hides all comments, apparently.

WordPress also has user blocker options- but on here, you’d need an admin to activate it. Dead guvs? Alva? Please?

    3. There are apps available to block trolls, RandR.  The problem with Gudolph the Imposter is his use of multiple sock puppets for his identity thefts.  We’ll have to get him banned at his originating level.
What do you think, kw? Could a blocker work with his constant changes of identity?
Meanwhile, just keep ignoring him.  The  Interdict is already driving him crazy and he is getting wilder and wilder.  He’ll have a stroke soon!

      Don’t feed the trolls!😇😇

      1. No. I mean, it might work, but you'd have to keep adding to the user IDs blocked. Pols would have to block him, put him in "time out" where he can see only his own posts, and I wish that they would.

        1. Yeah, he's been a thorn in this forum for too long! Imagine the kind of discussion and readership this place could have if he wasn't always pissing over the comment sections.

So sad. Speaking of, do you know if there are any assisted living facilities accepting applications for Severely Old Man Smelly and completely incontinent geriatri- I mean, "Baby Boomers" like Voyageur? Only thing is, I'm not so sure there's really a whole lot to be done about it other than stop supporting his foul jokes. They were funny the first couple of times he posted it, but this is a borderline obsession for him now!

      2. Did you get a chance to have a stroke today, Grampy?  I went out and did some birdwatching, saw some cranes in the river! I wish you could have been there instead of cooped up all alone with your empty shelf 🙁

Well, maybe tomorrow will be different!  The doctor said your prothrombin results were excellent!  The warfarin is helping! Which means….

        YOU CAN FINALLY TRY VIAGRA!

Wow! He said don't get your hopes too high (Tee Hee !) since you're in pretty poor shape, but you might achieve a semi chubby! Won't that be fun! You can put on your Billy Joel and pretend you're back in high school!  Yay!

Weird.  I am still as pissed off at you as I was before the Interdict.  Why do you suppose that is, grandpa? Oh well.

Come on, let's get you changed and tucked in to bed. You had a few moments of being pretty decent! Maybe there's hope your mood is just hormonal dips and not middle stage Alzheimer's after all!

        NIGHTY NIGHT GRAMPS.

      1. Just keep freezing the troll out, Cookie.  He's already whining and complaining that nobody comments on his dairies.  He'll be gone in a week.  It's easy to skip his posts, since he marks them with my stolen platypus avatar.  But he can't follow with the one-word Voyageur — so you know it's phoney and can skip to the real thing.

        1. GRANDPA, WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT 'DAIRY?'

YOU HAVE HAD TOO MUCH CHEESE TODAY AND YOU KNOW IT MAKES YOU GASSY.  REMEMBER WE HAD TO GO TO THE ER LAST TIME YOU WERE SO GASSY?

          REMEMBER, GRANDPA?

          1. I believe it’s pronounced  ” classé ” wink

Are you boomers all just bored because of the variants? Voyageur makes sense, he’s got nothing going on so he takes it out on younger people.  That’s his problem.

But why are you all behaving like school children? If you want a hivemind of sycophants to eat the same slop over and over, you guys might want to check out TRUTH social (sorry, the caps are part of the name ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). Otherwise, you’re tossing fresh logs on dying embers doing this.

Oh the irony. Why the hell don’t you guys understand YOU are the trolls keeping the revellers “CAROUSED” on intoxicating bullying. I’m not out to convince you to like me, obviously I’m never gonna be respected any more than the eunuch Diogenes around here. And I will happily go back to being quiet and bear in mind the sheer thrashing you sharks have given this zealot. What more could do you reasonably want if not bloodlust?

            1. You disrespectful prick. You will never “happily” go back to being quiet. Self-absorbed little boys like you are so desperate for attention they will resort to the juvenile idiocy you have presented here, at every opportunity.

Don’t you wish someone respected you? Are you so stupid or naive that don’t understand why the adults on this site don’t care to be insulted and attacked by an anonymous cretin.. There are many here who use anonymous usernames because they have compromising positions in real life. Others use a pseudonym because they are cowards and routinely spout unsubstantiated bullshit. You strike me as the latter.

Grow up, little boy. Maybe some day you may become a widely respected adult, like V. And Michael. And skinny, kwtree, and so many others

As it is now. You are nothing more significant than an arrogant, dishonest, juvenile troll. This is my last response to you. I don’t care  to hear your response but you are certainly free to vomit your spite on any public forum.

Maybe, someday you will realize what a pathetic, meaningless, ugly image you project. Maybe someday you will be an honorable man.

              1. “You disrespectful prick. You will never “happily” go back to being quiet.”

Respect is reserved for when it’s earned. A bunch of baby boomers who can’t accept that they are bullies. So grow up, Duke, and move on. It’s a new week!

            2. At least own your thoughts and comment under one, consistent name? Your writing style and cap locks are generally enough to identify you regardless, but Alva does have some rules for the site.  This comment is a full-blown impersonation (and a no-no).

              1. “full blown impersonation” is a stretch. Only someone not paying attention to the content of the comments could be confused if they have basic reading comprehension.

There’s no identification stolen. Only parody, which your old buddy found very amusing and encouraged it. He condoned my letting Oscar be my avatar as well, so who are you sharing such silly, baseless, bullying remarks?

                Let. It. Go. ❄️

              2. Dear Pols
Obviously, the misspelled “VoyagEUr” instead of the real VoyagEUr and his misuse of my stolen avatar is another attack by Gudolph the imposter.

Alva, if this troll’s repeated identity theft doesn’t break the rules, there are no rules.

If we still have a penalty box, send the troll there for life.  That way his frenzied fusilades will still swell our item count.smiley

                1. Agreed, couldn’t be more different in spelling! And pronunciation!

Which rule are you wildly speculating exists and is being violated?

No one indicated there were so many dyslexics in this group. Should I try a serif drawn font to make it easier for you slow readers?

    1. I don't read any of the posts from whatsitsname, but it does get the comment count up there!  Remember when bjwilson83 accounted for about half the 500 comments on one thread simply posting "I know I am but what are you"?

      1. The Beej was in a class by himself, Harry.  I was a front-page editor at the time and he posted a diary about his fundamentalist religious beliefs — anti-evolution, et al.  It soon drew about 100 comments — almost half replies by the indefatigable one himself.  So, I promoted it — and it ended with about 1,000 posts, which I am sure is far and away the record.  And, yeah, he had answered most of them himself!

But unlike Gudolph the Imposteur, Beej had a sense of honor.  He foolishly bet me $100 that Maes would beat Hick — after Tancredo’s third party bid had ruined GOP chances.  Hick won and I told him I felt ashamed of luring him into a sucker bet and he didn’t have to pay.  But he did — a significant hit on a grad student’s budget.  I eventually gave the cash to the Dumb Friends League.

        1. Stop telling made up stories, grandpa.  You sound like a real intellectual.  I can definitely see that in your comments.

Man, talk about breaking user agreements.  Now you confessed to running an underground gambling operation through ColoradoPols!

I really hope Alva doesn't see this.  That race was in 2010, well before the Supreme Court struck down the laws prohibiting such felonious behavior.

You're on a roll, V. What else do you want to confess to? Slander? Online harassment?

We know why your mind went to "men in women's clothing" as your go-to insult.  Because you're a patriarchal old man who fancies himself as smort because he bullied a few other wimps to chuckle at his, seriously, low hanging fruit grammar school-level sense of humor.

You are a bully.  A transphobic and probably homophobic as well bully.

Now go take a baby boomer dump in your baby boomer diapies.  Its well past your nap time!

        2. Yes, the Beej was an odd character, and absolutely certain his delusions were reality — a product of homeschooling and doubtless a neurotic and controlling parent.

You could almost get an infinite loop going between him and Steve Harvey, although Steve put a lot more effort into his posts.

I wrote a post about a new element, Wilsonite, that was impervious to external input, only allowing signals to flow in one direction — outbound.  I decided I didn't want to post it myself, so I gave it to Steve and he did it for me.

    1. Grandpa! You and your post hoc googling 😉

That article doesn't show anything more than wishful thinking from private enterprise looking for investors 🙂

Your poor generation was so brainwashed! Must have been all those black market drugs you sure can't help but promote and abuse those many, many years ago.

I forget, were you teaching at West Point during the Opium Wars? Or was this when you were a paralegal that you accrued this scientific acumen?

      1. There is credible university research being done on this. Much to look forward to. It isn’t post hoc googling, we’ve been discussing it on this forum for at least two years now.

        1. Thanks for the respectful reply above concerning diaries. I frankly don’t care about traction in comments there.

Writing it was grueling and your cohorts’ behavior was unscrupulous in joining in on the fun.

I’ve had warmer receptions from the trump subreddit, in complete honesty. At least there you have context clues as to who is sincere and who is not. Voyageur is a precious gem to the community, but frankly his idiocy is entirely to blame for this discussion.

I’m not planning on leaving or”starting over” to appease that elitist attitude. It’s gross, and I’m appalled someone at put together as you seem to be defend it.

Truly, the response to my being upset over a representative was extraordinary targeted harassment. Very common in Trump forums and RWNJ YouTube channels, where social nonconformity is also bullied and pushed at a troll to harass.

          Gross.

          1. Michael has more class in his little toe than you possess in your entire person. I am not surprised you are appalled someone "put together as Michael" defends this site.

It is apparent you understand very little. And stop trying to blame your adolescent brain slop on anyone but yourself.

            1. See, Michael? You think this is okay talk for adults?  "Jokes" piled on and now literal mob mentality with the "popular" kids forming a coterie to "interdict the troll."

"Adolescent brain slop." Classy. *chef's kiss*

          2. Many of us have been commenting here for 15 years. We’re like a family and have a good sense of what’s sarcasm and what’s not at any given moment. We have our moments but there is a lot of good back-amd-forth here that benefits all of us. Think of this as a hazing event during Rush, except you didn’t end up passed out and naked on someone’s front lawn.  Thick skin and a sense it humor will be your best armor when visiting us. You did have some good info on your diary.

            1. Someone else mentioned the hazing comparison as well. I understand, and I refuse to abide by a fraternity that treats people like that.

Thick skin and sense of humor is exactly what the shitheads on 8chan said was all you needed to see the fun in just playing around. How many people have died from that?

Of course, this dinky site has no such growth potential, but the point stands.  You might think it's funny, but that's what bullies do.

Thank you again, but try to look at it with greener eyes for once.  This shit isn't very funny at all.  I'm a pariah for not meeting some unspecified criteria for composition, spelling, and grammar and playfully responding with the exact sort of "humor" you're defending.

              You, MichaelBowman, are defending bullying.

              1. I went back and re-read the threads where you started posting. kwtree ask you to defend a position you stated about the Caraveo lady. You tried to bullshit her, began to insult her (which prompted the derision from V.) and your adolescent ego took over from there.

Shouting is never appropriate. It is an attack. An act of violence. Forget where your cap-lock button is.
When you walk in the door and start pissing on the furniture, what the fuck do you expect?

It wasn’t “fun”. We won’t miss you.

                1. Oh, so NOW you caught up?  Good thing you formed your opinion before reading it.  Otherwise you might accidentally consider an outside perspective!

I'm not going anywhere, asshole.  I'm stuck in this shitty state with shitty patriarchal "cynical" bastards like you. Boomer days are numbered and your telomeres are shrinking day… by…. day…..

                  1. I said "re-read". I read all of it from the beginning …then "re-read it. What that means, is you are still full of shit.

Respect is earned. Want some…show some.

And I really do hope you stick around. You are a really great example of so many characteristics no one wants to emulate. And you will really help no one want to support your issue.

                    1. Totally agree on the respect thing.  Michael is the only polite human in the lot apart from myself.  I'm surprised he just quietly applauds you guys instead of joining in on the justified mockery!

Is there a Dame of Cock as well, or is she a Dame of Muff?

                    2. Well, "no one who reads my comments" will support it, I guess. That's weird, I wonder how that will play out as you guys research it for yourselves.

Not really sure they stand out too much from the level you guys start with, Dick.

                2. His replies are getting short and pointless, Duke.  I think his meth or other stimulant drug has finally run down and he is exhausted.

                  Sic Semper Trolls.

                  1. Et sic semper his nucibus.

Haha, Grandpa, you know I have a real life outside of the internet, silly guy!  Not all of us can sit around listening to talk radio in our diapys and imagining memories of greatness!

Oh, did you grandkiddies reach out to you today, or did your "inheritance" ruse turn belly up?

No inheritance! Just sad Old Man Smells wafting from the cold body biohazard after your soul is farted out.

                3. Also, you read her edited comments if you only went and saw it today.

See, I'm a newcomer to posting and misunderstood the colorful comments insulting me for not writing well as a request to edit my comment. I understand know what a diary is, just in time for everyone to give fuck all.

kwtree was not kind. You are incorrect in who was pissing, it was her. And V. And you. And R and R. All you "besty boomers" were needlessly teasing me buying into really cruel comments.

At one point I insinuated that my mother had died of alcohol poisoning, and V mocked me.

Is that, you all think, "justified mockery?"

If so, I see no reason to slow my roll or cool off or let you "ice" me out.  I'm gonna be handed the bill from all you fuckwads when you finally get as feeble as V is and asking for your benefits that YOU squandered and wasted away, for healthcare YOU cynically squandered away.

Nah, man. WE won't miss YOU.

              2. Respecffully, “no I’m not”. You came here voluntarily and continued to engage long after it would have been more appropriate to point to your diary and then let the conversation take on a different flavor. Participants on this site didn’t seek you out, that would be bullying.

Again, you wrote a diary that contains a lot of good info. Your style on the Weekend thread overshadowed your work there. The fact you took the time to write a diary puts you well ahead of others who unsuccessfully troll here. Take your win on bringing broader attention to 1317 and to the positions of a congressional candidate.

                  1. Grandpa, you're on a fixed income and you already spent your candy money for the month?  Remember the milkshakes, grandpa?

                    GOD, WHY CAN'T HE REMEMBER?????

Look at me, guys! I'm being stupid and he totally thinks I'm an imbecile! Sksksksksks

                1. Haha, exactly what a bully would say!

“It’s not MY fault, my victim was asking for it!”

You are not paying attention to the timeline of events while you were away.  Referring to my diary, which I barely published, versus the “behavior afterward” which, no, was beforehand.

I had no clue about the “diary” facet.  Usually it’s ads for trash occupying that space, so instead of cluing me in when I stopped and sincerely asked what was going on, they jerked me around.

Yeah, I’m butthurt that your friends decided to jump in on the harassment and ignored most any neutral, serious discussion.

Then your bestie Voyageur started popping up randomly to disparage me.

That is when I made the diary and compile what my concerns were.

I’m not a journalist, I’m just a guy that was concerned and didn’t realize expressing that concern in the same sort of casual, colorful language your frat uses, I got gangbanged by completely false accusations, and told to leave.

Nah, man. You’re a bully for standing on the side you are.

                  1. It seems to be lost on you that I happen to agree with some of your concerns. I would have approached those concerns in a very different way in this forum (or any other), especially as a first-time contributor. The two of us obviously have different styles of communication.

                    1. Again with the condescending attitude from deep in your hole. I never remarked about whether you agree with me and that's not the issue. The issue is that you are aiding and promoting bullying.

Now you have nothing to say in terms of actually articulating a counterargument, so proceed with the grade school tantrum like the rest instead of just making some sort of concession that this is a toxic atmosphere you cultivate.

                    2. I have noticed that whatsisname won't take "Yes" for an answer. I started off with a very positive opinion of Dr. Caraveo as my daughter's new rep in (proposed) SD8, based in part on the GMS podcast interview.

Then I looked into this bill, because of whatsisname's posts, and discovered some stuff I was uncomfortable with, namely, we shouldn't be chipping away at Amendment 64.

So in general, I'm still supportive of Dr C, but not of HB 1317, except for the research study. I'd probably still advise my kid and her hubs to vote for Caraveo, but they may want to let her know their opinion on the 4-20 stuff. To me, it sounds like the lawsuits, like the one from the epileptic 19 year old, will send the bill back to the drawing board.

We had another bill like that  -Amendment 43 against gay marriage- signed into law, but it was against the  Constitution, said SCOTUS, and so went quietly into limbo.

As far as whatsisname / gudolph/ SBG etc, his first post was

“She is disingenuous sellout and a disgrace to her degree. To date she has only used it to carouse hysterical parents to pander to their concerns of reefer madness.…

Very medical. Not at all Anslinger/Nixon era politicking. Once again, she squandered millions of taxpayer funds for private rehabs and DA’s who will profit off her misrepresentation of her expertise.

The catholic schools bussing in students as punishment to speak to Colorado adults about what is right. I hope she fizzles and burns, because she sure as fuck isn’t listening.

"Carousing hysterical parents" was funny. I made fun of it. Genghis made fun of it. CHB politely asked what the heck he meant by it. V dropped in and did his usual schtick with an insulting nickname, and a song parody to boot.

I asked whatsitsname 4 times what his beef with Caraveo was, the substance of the corruption allegations, what the bill actually said, and to post a link to the actual bill. He finally did.

It escalated from there. 200 bizarre and increasingly ugly posts later, here we are.  We all know a bit more about 1317 and we have a new, prolific, vicious, and indefatigable troll with a victimhood complex in seemingly permanent residence.

Caraveo will be branded as the Pot Prohibition candidate, although 56 other reps co-sponsored the bill. Somehow, the three  white males who were the main cosponsors have not incurred whatsisname's wrath.  Wonder why not….

                    3. Oooh, am I on trial? Do I get to file a countersuit?

"Yes" to what? I don't recall anyone ever actually addressing my content without first throwing a couple insults at me first so I am not sure what I would be saying yes to.  Is it agreeing about the diary thing? That's not the issue at hand.

The issue here is you are an educator (ostensibly) and you purport this conduct as appropriate. If you did agree with my arguments in the first place, why you would join in the digital mob to fabricate and perpetuate lies?

So in general, the rule I gather is "Take nothing seriously except the Papal Family."

For a blog called Colorado "pols" you sure don't take kindly to passion.

A simple, "woah, Gudolph, would you mind reposting this as a diary? I don't recognize you and that's generally how we post original ideas here."

                      or

"Woah! Calm down, it's hard to tell what you are directing your anger at in this."

or even just fucking ignoring it.

Nah, you all saw an opportunity to pick on someone inherently inferior because of the patriarchal architecture of the blog forum format. So you took turns and unleashed your dumbest, oldest, mangiest puff of a fart who can't communicate a thought unless you know his 16-volume character backstory to cross-reference.

Like I said, I'd love to move on from this like the grown up I know I am.  Are you all too fucking tired and fat on your boomer asses to stand for a little introspection?

                  2. I actually did sincerely ask what you were on about, not once but several times. You ignored me, and decided to imply that I must be stupid for not comprehending your “colorful, casual” prose, or for wanting to know specifics about the mllions” Caraveo had supposedly made referring to rehab or to prosecuting DA s

But if what you need to save face is an apology from me for not being “kinder”, then you have that. Don’t bother waiting for one from V; he never apologizes. And you two are peas in a pod, so I don’t expect one from you either.

                    1. "Somehow, the three  white males who were the main cosponsors have not incurred whatsisname's wrath.  Wonder why not"

Cookie, surely you don't mean to imply any sort of racial aspect to it?

Please find an article concerning the bill that she does not take top billing if not sole credit for it.

If there were any publicity that came across my path of Garrett (about whom I know very little) or Lundeen being at the helm of the bill, I would easily give them credit as well.

You are following Voyageurs bullying me in my vulnerable positions with outrageous accusations.

If I said anything sexist or racist, show me where. Otherwise, kindly stop acting like a MAGAhead and demeaning the existing equal rights disputes by using it as a perjorative.

                      Shame on you.

And you were not kind, no. I thank you for being the only decent person here to make an effort to apologize and be a grown up.  I hope it continues. I apologize for not being attuned to the formalities of the sub and for assuming you, by being supportive of his sentiments, actions, and lies, were also antagonizing me. I can see how that might not have been your intention, and I'm sorry if I took offense where none was intended.

                      Thanks!

                2. This impertinent narcissist reminds me of someone….hmmm..

"I wasn't wrong, everyone else was. kwtree was mean to me. So was r&r.." ad nauseum…

"I won the 2020 election. Everyone else is lying!"

He isn't going to be able to behave like an adult. He can't be wrong.

                  Trolls are trolls.

                  1. Narcissism is indeed the common thread between the former guy and our carbuncle.  But unlike Trump, our carbuncle can't buy anyone's loyalty.  He has now lost the support of every single person on this blog.

                    1. True, I don’t have the deep pockets of a silver medalist like you.  No, wait, you don’t get a medal for not winning, do you?

                      Go to bed, grumpy Gramps!

  6. This is mostly on how cooperatives are the answer to many of our problems in our modern economy. It also helps to explain how cooperatives can give us back something that's missing in our highly individualistic, highly capitalist society; a sense of belonging to a greater community. If working people actually took the time to learn about this, most would embrace it. However, the word “cooperative” is immediately branded as leftist fantasy.

Sharing the Pie: How Farmers Are Using Cooperatives to Stay Profitable and Grow Local Economies

    1. I once had lunch with the great John Kenneth Galbraith.  Most people don’t realize he started out as an agricultural economist.  In a nutshell, agriculture once exemplified classical markets, many buyers, many sellers.  Today, despite depopulating rural America, we still have millions of sellers but only a handful of buyers.   The federal government tries to equalize things with massive subsidies to producers of surplus crops.   In theory, we’d be better off retraining surplus farmers — but how many 50 year-old newbie computer programmers do you need in Joes?

To me, ag is our last chance to save this planet from human stupidity.  Spend trillions, not mere billions, to grow perennial grasses to store excess carbon in our soil.   Scrap the superstitious fear of GMOs and design real multi-year hybrids to store carbon, produce grain and haylike crops.  Slowing the rate at which we fry the planet won’t do it.  We have to get the excess carbon already there out of the air.

And my farmer friends just fly their Gadsden flags, cuss socialism, and drive their $60,000 pickups down to pickup their subsidy checks.

Honestly, it’s enough to make me vote Democrat.

      1. For the Ogallala region in particular, we’ve got to start a transition to systems that maximize employment and gross dollars / acre foot of water. Today we grow crops that demand subsidies and water them with finite water supplies extracted from below with coal-fired power generated in Wyoming.

We’re trying to get the citizens of Wray to life their moratorium on THC extraction so the local CBD extractor can broaden its operations and hire 20-25 new employees. One of the earlier pushbacks (when we were unsuccessful getting the City Council to lift the moratorium) part of the pushback was they’d poach the good people working locally and the Main Street businesses wouldn’t be able to find help. The other part of the pushback is from a sliver of the local church community.

We still have a lot of work ahead of us rolling back eight decades of lies and myths about the plant.

          1. Gobo Desert……  Aerial views taken of parts of the eastern plains, I think during the big drought year of 2002, showed actual sand dunes in places under a thin overlay of soil. Michael can correct me if I have the date wrong.

            1. It’s not just the Eastern Plains. My brother and his wife live in Pueblo West. They xeriscaped their property and they didn’t have to drive all the way to New Mexico to find plants to do it with. The desert approaches. That was back in 2007.

            2. All of the irrigated farmland north of the Republican River in Yuma County is one big sand dune. It's a (failing) experiment in mass hydroponics.

    2. Seems to me that civilisation itself began as a set of cooperatives.

The great industries of the world started out that way, but our capitalistic, money-based economy prefers the top down structure of your average S Corp.

      1. The classic, I built it, I run it Andrew Carnegie capitalism gave us tremendous grow and uplift, along with its slums and goon squads.

Today you get a bunch of hedge fund managers reaping billions in profits from other people’s money — drilling on Wall Street, my oily boy friends call it –while producing absolutely nothing and shipping trillions in capital tax free to Ireland.  And they never once get their Guccis scuffed on a factory floor.

Henry Ford was a Nazi before they coined the term — Hitler literally had his picture on his wall.  But at least he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and he paid his men a living wage.

Today’s plutocrats don’t buy Congressmen.  They lease them, in condo-style arrangements.  We’ll give millions to Susan Collins in return for trillions in tax breaks.  But she can vote to uphold abortion all she wants.

Good girl, Susan, keep those socialists from putting their eyes on the ball!  Hell, we billionaires love abortions — they keep our health care costs down and avoid that damn family leave.

Christ on a pogo stick!  Where’s the next Hillary when we need her?

        1. The way I remember learning about Ford was that he wanted his employees to earn enough to buy the products they made. If they couldn’t own one, why should they care if they were sound when they rolled off of the assembly line? He wanted them to believe the car they were putting together might someday be their own, or their neighbor’s.

          1. Don't forget…our friend, Henry, was a very early proponent of hiring the handicapped. I read his essay

His premise, of course, that technology will allow a one-armed man to do the job of a two-armed man, but you could pay him half as much. Logical.

        2. Gentle comment to VG….you’re not keeping up with current news. Ireland has agreed to the 15% minimum tax on corporations. At least it’s a step.

And Joe Manchin is willing to raise the corporate tax rate from the Trumpian 21% to 25%. Now if some of those other loopholes can be closed……

          1. It’s an important step.  Frankly, I’m no great fan of corporate taxes and would happily scrap them in favor of a national value added tax.  But as long as we have them, it should be as level a playing field as possible internationally.

            And abolish carried interest loopholes.

  7. Say it ain't so, Lauren!

EXCLUSIVE: Jan. 6 Protest Organizers Say They Participated in ‘Dozens’ of Planning Meetings With Members of Congress and White House Staff

"Along with Greene, the conspiratorial pro-Trump Republican from Georgia who took office earlier this year, the pair both say the members who participated in these conversations or had top staffers join in included Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas)."

      1. Fortunately or unfortunately, kw, you can’t impeach a member of congress.  The House itself is the sole and final judge of its membership.

        Article 1, section 5, clause 2.

The good news is a two-thirds majority of the House can oust this criminal and there is no need to get two thirds of the Senate to go along.

        .
But you do need a two thirds majority of those present and voting.
Same rules apply to expelling a senator.

      2. My former congressman, Jim Traficant, was the last dirtbag to get booted from the House of Representatives. That happened way the hell back in 2002, in the wake of a multi-count criminal conviction that included tax evasion, bribery and racketeering offenses.

Ol' Jim ran for election to Congress from a redrawn district later that year from federal prison, and got something like 15% of the vote.

If Sloebert got booted – which, lol – I have little doubt that district would vote to send her back. Based on the Powell case, the House likely couldn't refuse to seat her and would have to kick her out. Again.

        1. Well now, never mind the Powell case! Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment says an insurrectionist would need a 2/3 vote of each house to get back in.

    1. I saw this an hour or so ago. This is "under oath" testimony, I believe.

I hear tell Gaetzs' wingman is singing like a canary, as well.

      Is it Christmas yet?

      1. Would that sort of testimony be described as documentary?

Gosar’s office did not respond to requests for comment on this story. Rolling Stone has separately obtained documentary evidence that both sources were in contact with Gosar and Boebert on Jan. 6. We are not describing the nature of that evidence to preserve their anonymity.

Because if there’s more than just sworn testimony, then I’m gonna need to change shorts.

Edit to add these poignant words:

“The breaking point for me [on Jan. 6 was when] Trump starts talking about walking to the Capitol,” the organizer says. “I was like. ‘Let’s get the fuck out of here.’ ”

The organizer offers an even more succinct assessment when asked what they would say to Trump.

“What the fuck?” the organizer says.

        1. That’s the writer’s way of saying that they’ve verified that their sources were in contact that day through separate means– probably messages in an app like Whatsapp or Signal, or maybe text messages, who knows, these people are idiots. I would assume the sources showed them the messages, or whatever.

    2. Thanks for the link, Pseudo. I picked it up late enough last night that I just now finished reading it. All I can say is wow. these guys are in so much trouble. It'll be interesting to see if the investigative committee makes use of it. I  sure hope so.
