Cadman Elected Senate Minority Leader

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

That’s the word just in–GOP Sen. Bill Cadman of Colorado Springs will replace Sen. Mike Kopp as Senate Minority Leader after a caucus election this morning. Sen. Kopp is resigning his seat to spend time with his family following the death of his wife earlier this year.

Full statement from the Senate Minority Press Office after the jump.

Senate Republicans Elect New Leadership

This morning the Senate Republicans met to elect their new leadership team for the 2012 legislative session. This election was held days after Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp announced his resignation from the State Senate in order to dedicate his time to his four children.

The Republican caucus elected Senator Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, to the office of Senate Minority Leader, Senator Mark Scheffel, R-Parker, as the Assistant Senate Minority Leader, Senator Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley as the Republican Caucus Chairman and Senator Kevin Grantham, R-Canon City, to the position of Senate Minority Whip.

“I will truly miss working with Senator Kopp,” said Senate Minority Leader Bill Cadman. “He is a great statesman, colleague and a personal friend. He has been an incredible leader who laid a solid foundation for our caucus to continue moving forward.

“Restoring our economy means jobs…period. Our next legislative session needs to focus on removing barriers to business and impediments to prosperity.”
