  1. I think David Brooks is an idiot, but he scores on this one. "The G.O.P. Is Getting Even Worse:

What’s happening can only be called a venomous panic attack. Since the election, large swathes of the Trumpian right have decided America is facing a crisis like never before and they are the small army of warriors fighting with Alamo-level desperation to ensure the survival of the country as they conceive it.

      1. Sadly, he’s still trying to sell the pretense that this is all some kind of an aberration, a deviation — instead of a step in a logical and foreseeable progression.  And, yes, it’s that it’s a progression that informs why the trouble isn’t done.

    1. Ah, the ever-elusive “Rogue Staffer” struck again  in promoting and paying for the Trump rally 1/6/21. RAGA operated as a RWNJ money laundromat for the last few election cycles, contributing to Taller Coffman, George Brocolli, and others.  Now that we have a Justice Department cracking down  on campaign finance and corruption, lots of RAGA MAGAs are running scared.

  2. Grass-a-rooty-tooty too . . .

How Josh Hawley and Marjorie Taylor Greene Juiced Their Fundraising Numbers — ProPublica

But new financial disclosures show that Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., relied on an email marketing vendor that takes as much as 80 cents on the dollar. That means their headline-grabbing numbers were more the product of expensively soliciting hardcore Republicans than an organic groundswell of far-reaching support.

    . . .

It wasn’t until later, when the campaigns disclosed their spending details in last week’s FEC reports, that it became clearer how they raised so much money: by paying to borrow another organization’s mailing list.

“List rental” was the No. 1 expense for both campaigns, totaling almost $600,000 for each of them. It’s common for campaigns to rent lists from outside groups or other candidates to broaden their reach. But for Hawley and Greene, the cost was unusually high, amounting to almost 20% of all the money they raised in January, February and March.

    . . . and, sham-a-lam them ding-dongs!

    1. I just enjoyed listening to Rep. Adam Kinzinger discuss current conditions in the Republican party. He is smart and real. Republicans need to rally behind leaders like him if they want to have any hope of saving the party they once knew.
