    1. … though it’s creepy that they use a stereotypical Jewish accent for their “bad guy,” Dr. Minyard.  (I have no idea if Minyard is Jewish.)

        1. Weinstein ad cum music video. Kind of hilarious “Up with People” tries to be hip feel.  Made me smile.  Compared to the performance of Mrs. Basil Marceaux, it’s positively grammy worthy. As for the coroner’s ad, was  the accent an allusion to the unfortunate fact that orthodox Jews were busted for involvement in an organ trafficking ring last year?  We hate that shonda for the goyim kind of stuff.

    2. has been a cesspool ever since the mid-70’s when obstetrician Frank Minyard took it over.

There have been more national news stories over the years about botched autopsies, manufactured testimony, and other assorted atrocities of this office than any other office in the country.  This Coroner’s Office is the #1 example of what can and does go badly wrong in a coroner’s office.

Usually when 60 Minutes, Frontline, NPR, Times-Picayune, etc., etc., run multiple in-depth exposГ©s on years of incompetence, corruption, and graft things change.  Not in Orleans.

    1. I truly missed that guy. Always hilarious (probably not intentionally).

It’s been a long day and these ads gave me a good laugh.

  1. if the  anti-Angle ad was factually accurate.  Here’s what I found at adwatch.

“Retreat, relax, renew. Unwind and enjoy the soothing sauna and massage treatments in the Nevada prisons.

You heard right. Career politician and Senate candidate Sharron Angle sponsored a bill that would have used tax dollars to give massages to prisoners.”

It’s true as far as it goes, but there’s more to the story, one reason why after this issue was first raised in another ad we called it incomplete.

    INCOMPLETE

Here’s the background. Angle joined other members of the National Federation of Women Legislators on a tour of a prison in Ensenada, Mexico to see a drug rehabilitation program called Second Chance.

The program did include saunas and massages as part of a detoxification regimen along with mega doses of vitamins, counseling and life skills. In a video produced by the Second Chance organization Angle and others say they came away impressed.

Angle made a return visit with then prison director Jackie Crawford and prior to the 2003 session submitted a bill draft request for a pilot program back here.

She tried to interest other lawmakers on a trip to Ensenada to take a look. The idea went nowhere and was dropped. Her proposal was never introduced in bill form.

“Angle’s plan was developed by the Church of Scientology.”

    TRUE*

“This is apparently true. Critics say Second Chance appears to be the controversial Scientology program Narconon, by another name.

Love the scientology connection. Seems so perfect for Angle and her crazy looking eyes.

    1. but you all know what I mean. In my defense, have had a nagging two week illness. Chesty cough. Fever on and off. Really, really tired all the time. First day I’ve felt back to normal. Normal feels super.

        1. I rarely notice them either.

BlueCat: Knock it off! Also, feel better. That flu hit me nice and early. Went on and off for nearly six weeks after the initial symptoms. One day fine, three days wishing for death. So good luck with that. At the time a friend gave the advice, “Sleep! Tea! Soup! More sleep!” Highly recommend.
