  1. "You may call me an anarchist, a socialist, or a communist, I care not, but I hold to the theory that if one man has not enough to eat three times a day and another man has $25,000,000, that last man has something that belongs to the first."

    ~ Mary Elizabeth Lease

  2. Anyone seen a statement about the Boulder shooting which includes a reaction from any Republican leader in the state?  Denver Post had a quick list of reactions, including Ken Buck and Lauren Boebert.

  3. It is also Colorado Give Taxpayer Dollars to Gunheads Day.

I am simply responding to the news that the state is giving $20,000,000 to facilities such as the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex. A gunhead social club right in the middle of Calamity Janes’ district.

It sits very near a spot where a large group of shooters used to congregate and socialize while blasting various targets to bits.  They would bring coolers and grills and make a party of it. They, of course, had every right to do so.

I know this because I often used to hike in Coal Canyon…a place frequented by wild horses. I have not been back.

Put simply, my outrage and resentment that taxpayer funds were used to build the place cannot be overstated. The group responsible for directing your funds to a facility that teaches kids to kill, is a Republican social club. Powerful and influential people got the public to pay for a comfy new home for them to exercise their hobby. If the people who use it can’t support it, shut it down and erase it from the landscape.

The facility serves no public need. It has no right to receive public funds. I have guns. On the occasion I want to target practice or just make loud noises, I can find dozens of places in the millions of acres of desert to do that.

    1. As a counterpoint, the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest and its communities are trying to ban open shooting in the forests in order to reduce wildfire dangers in these often red flag zones, and also to reduce the need for expensive cleanup operations. The condition of these closures: that formal ranges be created to direct gun owners to more manageable locations. I would very much love to have some security from irresponsible gun owners up here. The lower noise levels from a properly distanced and bermed or enclosed range will also be pleasant.

  4. Rep. Boebert surprised me a bit. She added to the “usual” RWNJ talking points of 1. thoughts and prayers, 2. thanks to the responders, and 3. don't make this a political issue.  She tweeted out the profound
“While we are still awaiting important information and details in this case, random public shootings & senseless acts of violence are never ok.”

Maybe, just maybe, there is a thin wedge there to ask her and other Republican Representatives and Senators what ought to be done about the “never ok” things around us.

    1. More folks carrying more 2nd amendment guns on their hips everywhere. Citizen militias. Mandatory grade-school firearms training. . . .

Death Penalty (mostly for democrats and other freedumb haters) . . .

Close all the liberal colleges and universities . . .

Build that wall. Keep all them furriners (terrorists) out . . .

Get right with right-wing white prosperity jebus (that means all teh gayz, transectuals, abortionists, . . .)

Probably something to do with oil and coal, and lower taxes . . .

      Some Q stuff, undoubtedly . . .

      . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . You sure you really wanna’ be asking that question of someone who knows and has all the right answers?
