Palin Coming to Colorado--For Reals This Time?

  • by: Colorado Pols

A month ago, we sat transfixed as the spectacle of former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s announced visit to Colorado, followed by the cancellation of said visit about a day later, unfolded. Well, actually, that’s a bit of an exaggeration–the truth is, we had completely missed the announcement of Palin’s appearance, and the first word we received was the cancellation, allegedly due to “an onslaught of personal attacks” against Palin for which no evidence ever surfaced. But folks, we’re not going to get caught flat-footed like that again. After all, lest you forget, Sarah Palin could be our next President!

Sarah Palin is coming to Denver on May 2 for a military and veterans appreciation rally and charity benefit.

The former Alaska governor and vice-presidential nominee will be the keynote speaker for “Tribute to the Troops with Sarah Palin” at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood.

The Monday evening event will also feature retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin as well as cameos with members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, said John Andrews, who directs the university’s think tank, Centennial Institute…

Gov. Palin’s son, Track, served in Iraq with the US Army in 2008-2009.  “Knowing how strongly Gov. Palin supports our armed forces, we are pleased to extend CCU’s hospitality to her,” said Andrews.

It looks like the same event: same May 2nd, same Palin, but instead of the “the Patriots & Warriors Gala” hosted by the Sharon K. Pacheco Foundation, it’s the “Tribute to the Troops with Sarah Palin” hosted by John Andrews. Andrews to the rescue? What exactly happened to the original event? It’s curious, like what happens on reality TV after they turn off the cameras.

If we find out, or this for any other reason becomes interesting, we’ll let you know.

  1. Sarah Palin has never served in the armed forces and to my knowledge, none of her family has ever served in any capacity either so why does this woman have any credibility with military personnel or their families?

        1. before she finished her term.  But her son either is or was serving.

I got an e-mail about this today asking people to call and complain and scare her host into dropping her again but I think that’s the wrong approach.  Just brings her more press and lets her carry on about it.  I’m for just ignoring her. She’s already fading. Even most Rs don’t take her seriously anymore.  Why should anyone else?

          1. Wasn’t like there were scores of frivolous ethics lawsuits filed by Dems trying to find something, anything, to attack her with, or that those lawsuits were preventing her from doing her job and costing the people of Alaska millions of dollars.

              1. I’m not making it up. There were 27 complaints filed. All were dismissed, but in case you didn’t understand how are legal system works, yes, judges, lawyers, etc. do have to be paid.

  2. probably from both the left and the right.

So I will clear up all the lies about her in this thread. First off,

due to “an onslaught of personal attacks” against Palin for which no evidence ever surfaced

I don’t know if you were trying to be funny? I assume that the current FPEs have been around since 2008? Pretty sure they have been. For those of you new to politics, Palin adressed some of those attacks recently:

    1. The Beej, perhaps you were absent on Feb 6, 2011 and thus you are unaware that the bogus claim of

Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Gov. Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns.

was made more recently than 2008?

But then, you struggle to maintain any level of relevance to the real world. I’m glad I’m not depending on you to get my back. You suck at “defending.”

      As you were.

    2. What the hell does a spunky video from 2008 have to do with whether or not Palin’s visit last month was cancelled because of purported “attacks”? Did her handlers only just now find the turkey slaughter video? Had she been Tivo’ing David Letterman and only now figured out why she’s been feuding with him?

Like you, beej, she relishes playing the victim. And when she’s just a high-priced speaker for an event that can’t sell its expensive tickets, she can count on organizers to conjure victimhood out of thin air. It’s sad you’re enabling such pathetic behavior.

  3. Palin is of no importance, given her current poll numbers in her own state and that the stature and gravitas of Michelle Bachman casts a shadow upon the Wasilla Whiner’s chances for advance.

It’s local screech and former Nixon gopher Andrews who ought to be considered here.  No opportunity should be wasted if attention can be called to representatives/founders of the Coors Curia for Conservative Catholic Chickenhawks – laughingly called the Independence Institute – draping themselves across the shoulders of military vets and siphoning off the regard in which they are held by their fellow citizens.
