  1. A profoundly troubling thread of tweets from a nurse, beginning

I can’t help but think of the Covid patients the last few days. The ones that stick out are those who still don’t believe the virus is real. The ones who scream at you for a magic medicine and that Joe Biden is …

… Going to ruin the USA. All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that “stuff” because they don’t have COViD because it’s not real. Yes. This really happens.

Why do people trust "their" sources of information more than a nurse who is treating them?  What can possibly break through such a bubble?

    1. yeah…My sister in law is a nurse in Chicago, and she broke down into tears talking to my wife about it…the pressure, the sadness, and the feeling of not being able to help are what she is railing against…yeah, our west slope is about to get ugly…

    2. If they admit that Covid is real, then they have to admit that Trump lied to them. Then they have to admit that they are patsies/marks/victims of a con. They have to admit that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, Trump is never going to have a healthcare plan, and that he is a racist. And that they supported him. In Jonestown, 909 people "drank the kool-aid" rather than accept that they had been conned.

      1. My ex-girlfriend is a PA (and now a Trumper). She bloody well knows that COVID is real, since she cares for many who have it, including some who have died from it. She talks about how it turns lung tissue into "shattered glass".

But she still thinks it is a "plandemic" made in a lab in China, and spread by Democrats to hurt Trump.

The election has come and gone, and coronavirus is still here, though, so that talking point is down the memory hole.

      2. The Jim Jones reference is entirely appropriate – and now we have another example before us of millions (in this case) of people who have been brainwashed by a cult leader.

    3. What can possibly break through such a bubble?

Bubbles is where you finds ’em . . .

. . . when Polis was concerned enough to order closures last in March, the state had been seeing a peak of less than 150 reported cases per day, and an unknown positivity rate (due to the lack of available testing).  Today Colorado is officially reporting daily case averages of over 4,400, and a positivity rate of 12.61% for the past seven days.  https://covid19.colorado.gov/data

      So, yeah, bubbles . . .

. . . cowed to inaction and out-chickenloopering the previous Doolittle Governor.

      Stay the course, Jared . . .

      Fuxsakes!

      1. I figured it out – the longer Polis and the CDPHE allow the virus to spread uncontrolled, the fewer people there will be who need to be immunized once the vaccine is distributed! It’s a supply and demand kinda thing . . .

        I’m talking death here, folks.

  2.  break through such a bubble?

    – 2nd Amendment solution
    – nothng
    – ?

    There is no climate change.
If there is, it’s not a problem.
If it is, it was no human caused.
Even if it was, there is nothing we can do.
Even if there was, it would be too expensive.
    Even if wasn’t – it’s Obama’s fault. Or China’s. Or Biden’s.

How people choose what to believe and where to draw the line between belief and knowledge is infuriating.

    1. So, just howdaya’ think they managed to steal all those votes for Biden, Yog??? . . .

      . . . Leave it alone.

(And, maybe try to show some little gratitude for once, huh?)

    2. What log-in issue? Happens to me every so often. But my user name immediately pops up and I keep my password handy. Sounds like maybe the problem might be on your end.

      1. I suspect that passwords (or at least login credentials) are stored in a cookie by coloradopols.com on your system.

If you clear cookies you have to log in again.

        Are you periodically clearing cookies?

Do they clear when you quit your browser?

        1. For the record we took some steps to reduce the incidence of challenge questions on the login. We're happy to keep looking at this, but it seemed like it was just a cut and paste joke by now. Please let us know in clear terms if this is not the case.

          1. I get a blank login/password box.  So I have to re-enter my login and password every time.  I really don't want to clear all cookies for every site.  Just this one.  Is that possible?

            1. Anything is possible but the procedure to get that done exactly the way that you want is bound to be far too complicated to be worth your time and energy.

The good news is that https://themarkup.org/blacklight reports that coloradopols.com is one of the less privacy-hostile sites on the web.

But that's not what you were asking about.

              1. We have taken measures above and beyond the stock WordPress installation to minimize the logging of data about our users. Back in the day, readers prized their anonymity and others tried to uncover identities through unsavory technical means we worked to prevent.

We also have not experienced this issue of being constantly logged out. This could be a security setting as well. Thanks for the feedback and we’ll try to get it corrected.

                1. I am a bit confused, Alva. Are there not two log-in pages? A Word Press page and a website page?

There is a "remember me" box on the Word Press page. I have to do it every couple of weeks.

Are we all on the same page here?

  3. for the good of the State of Colorado, Cory Gardner should resign…..

That way, Governor Polis could appoint Hick to the vacancy and give him a leg up on seniority.
