    2. Keep dreaming … this is the same person who decided it was OK for Presidents to own hotel operating companies running a DC hotel, despite explicit lease language saying no government official could.

      The same person to decide the FBI HQ ought not be built new, but should renovate the one on the Mall — coincidentally blocking any plan to have a private company bid to make some other use of the property, like building a hotel.

       

  3. My personal purge has begun. Unsubscribed today from Progressive Turnout Project and Democratic Training (never subscribed, on my own, to these two entities). More to come.

    Just added the Brady PAC (for gun control). Another that I never subscribed to.

        But to win just because the other guy sucks  is not always going to work. And a well organized Trump II will win. Then what?

         

        1. A solid infrastructure program, parts of which would appeal even to Republicans, would go a long way. Health care remains a potent issue even with miserable Mitch blocking expansion. The party should hire some of the Lincoln Project's best ad makers and wordsmiths to explain why the party of Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about the middle class.

  5. Does anyone else see ominous overtones to the firing of Espy? He apparently argued against invoking the Insurrection Act and bringing in active military during protests after the George Floyd killing (despite his nickname Yespy).

    2. Esper/yesper. Mike Espy ran for US Senate in MS against Cindy Hyde-Smith and lost.

      Termination by tweet of Esper is very ominous and even more so if it is followed by the terminations of Wray and Haspel.

      Dump is burning the house down.

        1. FBI Directors DO get 10 year terms … but are seen as part of the Administration, so ultimately, the President can fire them.  A small stone in that "Unitary Executive" building that's been going up for years.

      2. #Trump wants to be able to say Merry Christmas to us this year, in the worst possible way. I hope there is a framework to protect us from him, including the military itself. But I'm not sure there is.

        1. next time he plays golf change the locks in the WH and drop him off at the bus station.

          Since he carries no papers maybe he'll end up in a cage and be deported

        Not only does Trump have a history of disclosures, he checks the boxes of a classic counterintelligence risk: He is deeply in debt and angry at the U.S. government, particularly what he describes as the “deep state” conspiracy that he believes tried to stop him from winning the White House in 2016 and what he falsely claims is an illegal effort to rob him of reelection.

          He is too stupid to be an "intelligence risk." 

    3. Perhaps worse, he is embedding loyalists into the Defense Dept. and other agencies (aka, the "deep state") in positions that do not require confirmation, and may be difficult to remove.  For example, Michael Ellis hired to be the NSA general counsel.  Of course, I don't see why they can't assign him to the NSA office in Numbnuts, Alaska.

  9. third time in the past 24 hours I've heard/seen/started a rumor that Buck and House are going to be replaced as CO GOP leadership.

    I don't recall how many losses the last guy got.. 

  10. Mornin’ polsters. Happy Birthday to cookies better other half! Has anyone spotted Fluffly waving treason signs on a courthouse lawn on the 5 o’clock news? Lots of long faces in the 51st state. Thrilled that I’m seeing an exodus of neighbors from ‘Fakebook’ to ‘Parler’ so they won’t be censored by Big Brother. Now they can play out their bigortry, racism, and conspiracy theories in broad daylight. 

  12. Right Wing Watch: 

    I'm not super-paranoid, but there is a LOT of disinformation being spewed by Steve Bannon's network,  including Epoch and various social networks. Lot's of calls to get off facebook and onto Parlor. My few right-wing facebook friends are posting like crazy, and it is truly bat-shit stuff. A quick google and you see that it is  mostly lies.

    They are going full frontal with the fraud accusations.

    Proud Boys have called off the stand-by order.

      1. This is an important trend to follow. I have few RWNJs on my feed; some I keep around just to monitor what's going on over there.

        The Right Wing propaganda ecosystem is trying to expand and consolidate its audience. MeWe and Parler are all part of this trend. 

        Follow the money and notice the people involved.

        Steve Bannon is a self-described chaos agent, who came from Breitbart and pushed Steven Miller on Trump. He is managing a huge disinformation campaign across the US and Europe.

        The Epoch times is a news source that the Falun Gong started, but I think is funded by the billionaire anti-China exile Guo Wengui, and boating buddy of Steve Bannon.

        For years, The Epoch Times was a small, low-budget newspaper with an anti-China slant that was handed out free on New York street corners. But in 2016 and 2017, the paper made two changes that transformed it into one of the country’s most powerful digital publishers.

        The changes also paved the way for the publication, which is affiliated with the secretive and relatively obscure Chinese spiritual movement Falun Gong, to become a leading purveyor of right-wing misinformation.

        First, it embraced President Trump, treating him as an ally in Falun Gong’s scorched-earth fight against China’s ruling Communist Party, which banned the group two decades ago and has persecuted its members ever since. Its relatively staid coverage of U.S. politics became more partisan, with more articles explicitly supporting Mr. Trump and criticizing his opponents.

        Around the same time, The Epoch Times bet big on another powerful American institution: Facebook. The publication and its affiliates employed a novel strategy that involved creating dozens of Facebook pages, filling them with feel-good videos and viral clickbait, and using them to sell subscriptions and drive traffic back to its partisan news coverage.
