It does not look like Rep. M. Coffman’s version of attack government workers has made the big time in Denver yet. His great idea to reduce the federal pay by a munificent $5.5B is to force every federal employee to take two weeks off each year without pay.
Besides the inane idea, and it is stupid no matter the level of government it is performed at, of forcing workers to take a pay cut by mandate of the politicians, it does nil towards reducing the cost of government. Oh I can hear the cry “every little bit adds up”, yeah sure all the anti-government types need are another 909090909.0909091 of them little ones to equal one of the trillions of dollars that are payed out.
No mention of reducing the cost of the industrial-military combine. There are the bills to leave veterans without – again. But every little dollar adds up. Cutting back on veterans really does help the budget. It takes a lot of those to make a trillion dollars.
Despite the Republican lies about government employees being high paid, they are paid less than private employment. There was a study published a few weeks ago in the Washington Post regarding pay and retirement contrasts. Private employment pays better.
I do not care for the snarky and dumb government worker jokes. They are not funny. Just as in any work place there are many types of workers. So one liners are not useful in discussing real life.
