New Year's Resolutions

If SXP says we should do this, that’s good enough for me. Here’s mine:

  1. Enjoy the time with my wife & daughters.
  2. Double the size of my company – providing more good jobs that pay well.
  3. Go to the Eurovision Song Contest my middle daughter’s graduation from CSU (they’re on the same day!).
  4. Keep interviewing those elected officials willing to give me the time.
  5. Keep making noise on the political issues we face.
  6. Come up with another marketing idea that brings us 1,000,000+ hits in a week (for work).
  7. Score an interview with President Obama.

What I think are the key issues at the state level:

  1. The financial straitjacket in the constitution.
  2. Fixing our K-12 schools.
  3. Adequately funding the state, especially Higher-Ed.
  4. Legalizing gay marriage.
  5. Campaign finance reform.

And at the federal level:

  1. Campaign finance reform. Until this is fixed we are facing an inherently corrupt system.
  2. Addressing unemployment.
  3. Completing the job on financial reform.
  4. Fixing our K-12 schools.
  5. Address the deficit – including telling the voters that services require taxes.

And most of all to try to keep in mind that disagreement does not mean the other person is wrong (or evil). That most of us want the same goals but see different approaches as the best way to achieve those goals.
