David,
How many Republicans are in the State House in Hawaii?
and one in the Senate.
Several decades ago the Republican party owned Hawaii. John Burns led a Democratic resistance movement that took over. The Republicans in response became more and more conservative and that led to smaller and smaller shares of the vote.
While on a 2008 Big Island vacation, I held an Obama Iowa Caucus watching party in our hotel room. Had about 10 Kona Dems over to celebrate the Obama victory (which was announced about 5 pm). Another polster and I advised one of the attendees, Jennifer Tsuji, on how to become an Obama national delegate. It was fun to have her and her family over to our house at the start of the DNC. Maybe your mom knows her.
best wishes to you mother, and also my congratulations on her accomplishment.
Congrats.
We expect an interview. 😉
Honestly, she does.
