Perlmutter Wants False Ads Pulled

  • by: Colorado Pols

The campaign of Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter is asking local television stations to stop running an ad from the American Action Network that Perlmutter’s camp says has been proven false. From a press release:

Today, the Perlmutter campaign sent a letter asking TV stations in Denver to remove an advertisement attacking Ed Perlmutter  based on the fact that it is “grossly inaccurate…and includes claims that independent news organizations have already declared false.”  Attached is the letter sent to station managers today, as well as a fact check on the entire ad.

In addition to numerous false allegations, the commercial alleges the health insurance reform bill “spent our money on health insurance for illegal immigrants.”  This is beyond political gamesmanship, this is a blatant lie, and the worst kind of scare-tactics that TV stations shouldn’t be a party to.  The health insurance reform bill signed into  law by the President states that undocumented immigrants are specifically “excluded from receiving any benefits under health care reform.” Perlmutter voted to ensure this provision was inserted in the law.  See the attached letter for independently-verified citations.

The million dollar commercial is paid for by the American Action Network (AAN) and is funded by the very big Wall Street financial firms Ed voted to crack down on.

There is precedent, both in Colorado and in other states, for television stations to remove ads that are intentionally misleading or inaccurate. Click here to read the full letter from law firm Rothgerber, Johnson & Lyons.

      1. your definition of this “short care”, “medium Care”, and “LT Care” you mention for illegal aliens. If you can’t provide these definition….you are AGAIN….lying….like all your favorite candidates.

Explain to me again, why patriotic Americans should vote for lying scumbags. Please be very specific in your response.

        1. As someone on the consumer side I don’t know your regulatory driven terminology. For us consumers healthcare is episodic.

A headache is relieved through hydration, a pill and/or pressure treatment. short term care

An unwanted child is terminated (your terminology) through an abortion (your terminology). short term care

Diabetes is usually a lifelong. long term care

A broken arm or shoulder replacement. medium term care

          1. or was it Insurance companies?

            OR your imagination?

About that Long term care Libertad…

if someone is diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and will die in 6 months anyway…

Does that person get the right from you and your belief system, to Kill themselves? to not wish to ebb away slowly and painfully and to spare their Children of the Generational Debt of actual Long Term care?

Ken Buck Said “NO Such Right” to My dad.

And forced him to waste away (without MMJ) at a huge cost to medicare and them to my whole family as Insurance refused to pay.

          2. I don’t draw a check from the healthcare world due to regulation. You response, however, to my question is not without merit, I can at least understand where you’re coming from.

I may be mistaken, but I don’t believe I’ve ever used the words terminated or abortion on this site. Yoou’re just making that up.

Your denigration of regulation in the health care world is confusing. While it is one of the most heavily regulated of all industries, for good reasons, data demonstrates that there are over still 90,000 iatrogenic deaths a year.

Iatrogenic in its current usage means physician caused death. There are many other more subtle iatrogenic effects, such as adverse drug reactions not resulting in death, not included in that number.

That represents, on average, 1800 deaths per year in every state, or about 5 per day in every state!

Thanks for your response L, like I say, not without merit as definitions go, but I would strongly object to comparing a headache “short term care” to an abortion as also being “short term care”. Your tautology does not hold up under even the lightest scrutiny.

      1. whether or not Bennet’s ads contain lies.  He’s just following talking point orders. Let somebody else know what the hell they’re talking about.  Independent thought or research makes the Beej’s head hurt. Not his job.

          1. So how come you can’t condemn political ads that are out and out lies?

If you can’t condemn a political ad that is the exact opposite of what was passed by Congress than how can you get all butt hurt about any other political ads?

I guess the real problem for a shill like you is that you get freaked out when Democrats start playing the game like Republicans.  Only Democrats are required to run fair and balanced ads and if they don’t then it is a smear job but Republicans can get away with anything as long as they win.  What pathetic standards you uphold Shill-man.  I guess you take after Ken Buck who unilaterally decided that women who have had a legal abortion don’t deserve equal protection under the law.

          2. If you are going to say someone is lying you need to be specific. What are they lying about?  What proof is there that it is a lie? Beej can’t because he’s just a parrot. You too, pretty much, H-man.  I’ve never yet seen you come back and respond when any of us cite facts indicating one or more of your straight from the memo talking points isn’t true.  You just pop up on a different thread talking about something else.

Beej at least tries but with no success due to ignorance and intellectual laziness. But of course intellectual laziness is a good thing for an R.  Wouldn’t want anyone to think you or your candidates think they’re smarter than anybody.  You all act as if you agree with the Chinese cultural revolutionaries of the early days that anything that could be viewed as “intellectual” (intelligent, educated and informed) is evil.

        1. If it doesn’t say it in Deuteronomy, it just isn’t in the beej’s world view.  I think the lie of Bennet he is referring to is when Bennet said that Neanderthal Man was a very well established strain of humans that died out about ten thousand years ago.  The beej knows Neanderthal Man was a hoax, so he knows Bennet is lying.

    1. I remember the big stink over making sure that undocumented workers don’t get workmens compensation or any other benefits during the health care debate.  Language was deliberately put in the legislation to appease Republicans who unanimously voted against it.

For them to know say that undocumented workers are receiving health care benefits is such an easily disproved statement that the media outlets should have never allowed them to aired in the first place.  Out and out lies are not supposed to be the norm in the arena of ideas.  The media should stop airing these lies or give Perlmutter a discount on his ads so he could air a saturated rebuttal to this nonsense.

  1. was to not bear false witness.

How can Republicans claim to be stalwart Christians if they don’t follow the ten commandments?

Is someone is going to be in for a rude surprise come Judgment Day?

    1. It’s all right to bear false witness if you’re a republican, Gilpin Guy.

And you’re not fooling anybody with that Moniker.  Beej has proven you don’t live in Gilpin County, you live in Kenya, where you are born and where you are a muslim radical.  And you’re not a guy, you’re a radical feminist lesbian.

So just STFU, non-Gilpin, non-Guy Kenyan Muslim person.
