(Either way, so much for that pledge to “stay positive”–six days, folks – promoted by Colorado Pols)
The Denver Post over the weekend ran an editorial stating that a Michael Bennet ad was unfair.
Now Buck is using the editorial in a commercial.
You have to wonder if The Post, since it has yet to endorse in this race, will put the new Buck ad under the editorial microscope, too.
After all, you expect the editorial page, prior to making an endorsement, to be relatively fair to candidates, maybe not like the news department, but still.
Here are two items from the Buck ad that The Post might scrutinize:
Buck calls Bennet a “rubber stamp for his friends in Washington.”
Buck says Bennet is “legislating unemployment.”
The Post wants a “fair and vigorous discussion on the issues that matter to Coloradans,” and it didn’t think the Bennet ad made the cut.
So, what do you think of the Buck ad? Does it meet your standards? Did it come close?
You owe it to readers, and the spirit of fairness on the editorial page, to let us know.

Will anyone ever stand up and say that categorizing all government spending as Bad and Terrible is the opposite of “a vigorous discussion?”
Will anyone ask Ken Buck where he arrived at these “voted 24 times for higher taxes” numbers?
Will anyone ask Ken Buck if he thinks CO should give back its state stimulus money?
Will anyone ask Buck what he meant by “legislating unemployment?,” or what he would have done differently?
What does Buck mean by “what’s right for Colorado?”(I’m guessing “deregulate all industries and cut taxes for rich people” are the answers, but hey, we should at least ask.)
I doubt anyone will. After all, mis-characterizing your opponent and his record are OK, even essential, if you’re a Republican.
If we’re lucky, the Post might try to fig-leaf itself by nit-picking a tiny piece of Buck’s rabidly anti-government campaign, but as far as questioning the ridiculous premises that his campaign is based on… don’t hold your breath.
Why don’t you, without being a boor, ask those questions of Buck’s campaign and report back to us?
That might get you banned.
“without being a gadfly”, but of course that wouldn’t be true.
are with people who ask him if he’s basically a nice guy. (Breaking: He says yes!)
If you can rephrase your questions to sound more like that, we might get some answers!
On the other hand, David intimidates Bennet.
No true quotes. When and where were these things said? Cite the source?
Buck never said he would eliminate all funding for education, including student loans.
He also never said he wants to abo;ish Social Security for futre generations.
The discussion (not one sentence) was about looking into possible ideas on how to correct the failing system currently in place. He asks if we need to …..(insert one of the absurd quotes here)?. He says he doesn’t know an exact answer. He goes on the say that we do have to re-examine our current system because it isn;t working and our future generations will not have any social security.

You’d have to be completely dishonest or stupid to read that in any other way than that Buck eventually wants federal education programs eliminated and for the state to fund them. There’s no other interpretation.
Oops, I used Buck’s previous position to deduce his current position! How mean of me!
I didn’t think it was a good idea to leave one hand behind his back. Great ad.
The Dems will whine, but the fact is this — The Democrat governments (Denver and DC) would have more long term sustainable revenue sources if they stoppoed killing private sector jobs and the formation of investment capital.
It’s no wonder 60, 61 and 101 are polling well. The Democrats have driven the fiscal hawks, consumers and investors into a corner with their tax hikes, regulatory burdens and big government growth successes.
of GOP talking points? I think that was the most successful, succinct parroting of total, unfounded nonsense that I’ve ever heard.
I was about to explain why everything you said was wrong, but then I suspected it would be like lecturing a table, or a potted plant.
What’s next, a comment about how gleeful you are that you baited libs into being angry that you write things that are completely disconnected from reality?
this cycle are the Dems. They think that mainstream Americans are extreme.
thus another one of your fine, errr, conclusions shot down.
According t the US Census Bureau only approx 23% of adult Americans have a baccalaureate degree. and even less have grad school. You are in the minority.
I could go on, but I’m not falling for you.
Statistically, I’m a whole lot more educated than most people, including probably many on this site. I don’t think it’s disconnected me from reality – after all, I’m a proud Tea Partier.
Legislating unemployment is no way to win over voters.
“Legislating unemployment” is exactly how republicans do it.
The majority party refuses to see it coming.
1) why is Buck afraid to Identify himself as a republican if republicans are going to do SOOOO well?
2) that backdrop looks more like Sen. McCains ranch in AZ than Colo.
3) what over regulating? nothing the Senate has produced is anywhere near as regulatory as what republicans have repealed. Thus creating this mess.
buck, this add is deceitful and so vague it will confuse more than inform. wait that’s what republicans count upon. confusion and deceit.
a geography expert? Why doesn’t Mikey identify himself as a Democrat?
Buck’s ad is refreshing after all the dirty and deceitful Mikey ads. The polls will show it.
Be sure to send your best wishes to the 527 that ran it for him. They’ll be glad to know their apparent coordination worked on the lunatic fringe.
it was paid for by the Buck campaign. Can’t you read? Hear?
That’s a no-no.
Yes I read the “paid for” at the bottom of the ad.
I want to see the expenditure report and compare it to the media buy.
Did you forget again, Marilou?
Except for people who willfully misinterpret my screen name, apparently.

But are you afraid of Tinky-Winky?
Ken looks confident and he’s speaking directly to us, establishing a level of honesty and sincerity
Definitely the best ad out of the Buck campaign so far and much stronger than most of Bennet’s
He didn’t attack Bennet personally; just pointed out the way he’s voted in congress.
“legislating unemployment”
WTF?
Oh that’s right- there was that bill recently passed where Congress mandated that unemployment stay high.
Uh, so Buck is a liar twice, once for MUS and again for saying he won’t run negative ads.
What the hell is this? I thought he vowed not to go negative. That was last week. Did he forget, or is he just buck-pedaling?
That way we’d know exactly what we were getting if we elected Buck.
Buck ran an ad telling us about Bennet’s voting record. It’s not negative if it’s the truth. Surely, you expected Bennet’s record to come out, didn’t you? This is simply not too difficult for you to understand.
will not release the recordings because we’d all see that he selectively cut words and phrases and joined them to change the meaning and wording of what Buck actually said.
Remember, denverco, that if Mikey will lie to you now, he’ll lie to you for the next six years.
after winning the primary. He knew that his far right wing radical views were great for teabaggers, but he could never win the general if people knew how he really believed.
Those were bucky’s words. Poor ole marilou, deny it all you want but your right wing radical candidate did say those things.
Remember, if bucky will lie and flip flop now , he will do it the next six years. But no worries cause he won’t win.
Joe the man smashed denverco’s face.
The train ran quickly through town.
The dog peed on the wall.
Therefore,
The train smashed the man through a wall.
That’s precisely what Mikey Bennet, the liar, did.
I think this is a really really good ad. Bennet’s put out some good stuff, but this is the first time a Ken Buck ad has left me thinking that he might have an effective media team behind him.
Irrelevant of content, this is an excellent advertisement. It caught my attention, which is saying something.
but it is a good ad.
Dammit.
What he doesn’t say is that his socially conservative views are similar to those of Sarah Palin.
That is why Ken Buck scares me more.
Since you gave us a freebie, I’ll give you one too. Bennet’s campaigning like a fiscal conservative was a smart move. (Although agreeing to debate Ken Buck, an experienced federal prosecutor, was not – e.g. the Jack Murtha comment).
Ken Buck is not going to Washington with a social agenda and there’s no way Roe v. Wade will be overturned with the makeup of the senate. It would take a constitutional amendment, which is just not going to happen. Plus with Sotomayor and Kagan there’s no way it gets through the courts either.
the socialists, Sotomayor and Kagan. That should assure people like Crock that she’s free to go on advocating for killing babies.
Guess its ok for you to go on advocating killing doctors.
Bennet unfair/dishonest? Check.
Bennet spends recklessly? Check.
Bennet out of touch with Colorado? Check.
Bennet=Obama? Check.
Buck positive alternative? Check.
he can keep trying , but he can’t run from his own recorded words.
you ask (ad infinitum) what “legislating unemployment” means. (crickets)
