This kind of irresponsible shit is going to kill a lot of people.
Listen up, folks. This IS NOT…I repeat…IS NOT H1N1 Influenza. Nor any relative of same. It is 10 times more deadly than the "flu".
Please take this seriously.
Why aren't leftists "hysterical about defecating on the street, or Typhus in California?" Perhaps because of our experience and ability to do math?
The US got pretty good about dealing with defecating on the street while we still had horses providing transportation as a regular thing. Since WWII and the mandatory hygiene lessons for all the troops, we've gotten even better. Number of illnesses and death traceable to poor toileting habits is small, and apparently an unremarkable number.
On the other hand, the progression of the number of known COVID-19 positive cases in the United States over the past week is 118, 176, 223, 341, 417, 584, 778, & 1050.
A straight-line progression of that rate of 135% day by day gets us to 461,381 at the end of March. By April 15, we reach the annual levels of influenza in America. We'd be on the way to what Harvard School of Public Health epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch estimated: “I think it is likely we will see a global pandemic. If a pandemic happens, 40% to 70% of people world-wide are likely to be infected in the coming year.”
40% of the 325 million Americans is 130 million. Death toll known so far in the US is 27/1050) — doing the math of the low infection and low mortality, it comes up as 3.34 million, or about 1% of the population. If the toll follows Italy's example so far, deaths of 827 of 12462 cases, that's 6.6% — and the low end of cases with that rate would be about 8 million.
Colorado seems to be following that 125 – 135% progression rate for discovered cases. It’s lumpy, not a straight line increase, but in the last few days, reported numbers have gone from 9,12, 25, and now 33, per CDPHE as reported by CBS. If the same 125% daily increase continues, we will be at approximately 213 cases of covid19 in Colorado by March 31.
